I think they are all crap

tnt lost a 38kg $5000 amp for 3 weeks had no idea where it was? Finally they delivered it on my front doorstep in full view of public no message no call. Only reason I knew about it was my neighbour rang me at work.

toll were going to deliver a cd rack from Selby acoustics, took the day off,,rang them in the morning to confirm it was being delivered yes it was by 5pm no sign , rang them back, oops was listed as on truck but left on dock. I kicked up a stink , grumbled to supervisor got delivered at 730pm

toll again, got a text at 215pm saying package would be delivered that after noon. Raced home only to find a sorry we missed you card times at 12:04 pm.

Tnt again took the day to await a set of act speakers, I'm the third unit of five - never delivered , driver couldnt find unit.

Oddly the the local start rack fella isn't too bad.

Fastway couriers are completely incompetent.

They simply do not turn up for pickups and often don't even turn up the next day when a new pickup is organised.

Let me down too many times , absolutely will never use those morons again.

How they stay in business is beyond me.

By the way, I know someone who did some contract work for Auspost and said they're the only ones he'd never use because freight is NOT their primary business, but more importantly, their sorting machine is 2 storeys high and things regularly fall off...

Aah but, Con, freight now is their primary business ("powering eCommerce" is their slogan) - coz snail mail has plummeted.  So WTF doesn't senior management focus on getting this right?  :(

I should add that one of the least worst carriers I've found is E-Go ( e-go.com.au ). They're reasonably priced and I've experienced few problems (so far). They are an offshoot of Hunter Express (a Newcastle based operation) and I tend to see the same faces for pick-up and delivery (which is a good thing). The downside? You cannot 'phone them. Every communication must be done via email/website. A few tips for first time E-Go users:

* Tick the re-delivery box!

* Tick the re-delivery box!

* Tick the re-delivery box!

Those are the three most important things.

Skippy put me onto e-go a few years back and I'v found them pretty good when I have used them.

I’ve seen TNT destroy products in ways I couldn’t fathom.  Sometimes clearly multiple damage incidents on the one product despite double thickness of dual-layer international shipping grade packaging.  Holes through box layers and then through wood type stuff.

Unfortunately transport companies are explicitly excluded from the consumer guarantee, so even if they are paid to pick it up from your factory and take it to the customer’s door, if they damage it or even lose it there is little-to-no consumer recourse unless they are also paid an insurance fee.  The first level insurance simply requires that they actually deliver it and don’t lose it.  The second level, often costing as much as or more than the freight cost itself, covers damage.  So, without insurance, they don’t have much incentive to care for it or even not lose it.  There’s no real obligation for them to do what they charged you to do.

Except for Cope Transport, they're all bad. Some are less bad than others. The absolute worst are TNT. Not only did they manage to destroy an amplifier I sent to Cairns, but then refused to pay on the insurance. I will never deal with them again. Cope, OTOH, operate on a completely different level.

Cope Transport operates at a whole different level.  The organisation I work for use Cope Sensitive.  they deliver all our gear assembled from boxed to clients premises nation wide from Eastern Creek.   Most if not all industry uses Cope Sensitive, in there warehouse in Laverton, we have a dedicated area to assembled some the most expensive items that weights in tonnes.   mostly to prepare out of boxes to be ready to installation on site.  In the Laverton site you will see just about every gear ranging from medical scanners,  electrical transformers,  industrial pumps etc

They also have a robotic stair climber capable of 350Kg, I had to gut a 600kg device to 250kg so it can safely go up a flight of stairs.

I think the most galling aspect of Fastway service is the 'insurance'. 65% of invoice value or -

The Carrier will be liable to the Consignor in respect of injury or damage to or destruction or loss of the Goods directly caused by the Carrier in providing the Services up to the amount of $1,500 as a total maximum liability for all of the Goods the

subject of the consignment note (Cap). The parties agree that any such liability shall be based on in the case of lost goods, the net cost to purchase or manufacture like goods, or in the case of damaged goods, the net cost for repair. The parties
agree that neither party is liable for any consequential loss however caused.

Effectively, if they destroy a $1500 piece of freight they will only pay the manufacturing cost, not replacement cost, or 65% of the invoice value. The insurance agent for Fastway is called Freightsafe (www.freightsafe.com.au) and are among the worst corporate scum I have had the misfortune of dealing with.

Seems to be multiple threads going and #1 is Fastway!!

:emot-bang:       They have a few challengers, but still the absolute courier company in AU

One thing I have noticed is that Amazon seem to be using Aussie post 95% of the time.  maybe my complaining actually did something?

Funnily enough they've updated their tracking now so you can actually see where the delivery truck is once it's out for delivery which is a feature I do like. Having said that, the system crashed not long after with a 500 error.

However I have to say that CP have always served me very well indeed and they would be my default courier choice.

I have been using Couriers Please a bit lately and generally they are good.  But the last delivery was left on grass some 50m away, just as well it has not been raining.

My most recent shipment was by e-GO.  Cartons arrived in good condition and on-time.  However, I paid for call before pickup and before dropoff, neither happened.  And no signature either on delivery.  The level of service is totally dependent on who their sub contractors are, and I hope this is not an indication of a downward slide by e-Go.

Unfortunately they've been 'sliding' for years.

No numbers to call, a non-caring parent company (Hunter Express), a paper based tracking system, and email only contact on your freight.

My latest experience is waiting 1 month (you read that right) for my 12kg crate to turn up at Lismore (eventually found in the Hunter Valley, and forwarded on). More than 10 emails to them in between begging for updates. I had even started a Police Report (the tracking, such as it is, stated it left Sydney for Lismore on a truck, and disappeared in-between - I figured that needed a Police intervention).

e-Go have burned me once too often I'm afraid. Never again, insurance or not. Check the online reviews to see just how bad it can be.

Two things:

There is a Commonwealth ombudsman for postal and related services (this includes couriers). May be worth checking out if you have complaints that aren't dealt with to your satisfaction.  http://www.ombudsman.gov.au/How-we-can-help/postal-industry-ombudsman

Second, screenshot is from productreview.com. Among the worst I've seen, even worse than for the Crew Cut clipper.fastway.PNG.4c88d65335e83ddb4d8e654e4ab19668.PNG

Unfortunately they have two important caveats to helping:

  1. We can only consider complaints about operators registered under the Postal Industry Ombudsman Scheme (Aus Post, Fed Ex, StarTrack).
  2. We are unlikely to investigate if the provider’s actions or decision comply with its terms and conditions. Read our FAQs on common postal complaints before you lodge your complaint.

Point 2 sees you in big trouble...most of these lesser 'common' carriers are all care (ha!), zero responsibility.

It is difficult, in my situation a while ago where they were in breach of their agreement with Office Works by refusing to comply, I refered the issue to Office Works to sort out as that was the only channel appropriate..

So--I ordered some green coffee beans and a new roaster from Geelong at noon on the 19th. All delivered safely today (20th) at noon. ?

Fastway.

It makes me wonder how much the service is up to the local contractor. (I didn't have a beer for my driver (my usual practice) so I gave him a sweet bun instead.)

Fastway continue to be the WORST courier service on earth.

Delivery was scheduled for yesterday - does not turn up.  Now the message says package is delayed. ring customer service and they say they have not even received the package at their depot yet.   No idea when it is going to be delivered and btw - they don'y have an address anywhere in the system.    This is automatically provided by Amazon and they always have the address.

Aussie post deliveries get delivered when they say it will be delivered.

I guess I will complain to amazon again to never use Fastway.

I've seen fastway just throw the record mailer onto the front door mat from next to van.  When I yelled out from the side gate, he just looked at me and said nothing - contemptuous a.s.s

I find Amazon pretty good, enough complaints and they will stop using Fastway I reckon.  Fastway is a franchise courier - they are only hurting themselves as franchise owners.

I find Aust Post always good.  I have a very high volume of deliveries, and every now and then there is a hiccup. But in general, their advice and delivery (and options for when not at home) are up there.

Out of interest sake, checked some of the not so favourable reviews on Product Review.

What astounds me, how they still in business!?!

Thankfully never had to use them, as mentioned in an earlier post Hunter Express are also inept. Ordered a T/Tennis table for Christmas week before 25th, stated would be delivered in 2-3 days.!!!  Received 13th Jan, mind you, ebay resolution centre worked for me after I explained story. Table ended up costing me zip. Sorry for going off tangent.

Tried some couriers and wasn’t completely happy. Staying with Australian Post for now. With them I’ve had very few problems.

For what it's worth, I've never been disappointed by TNT for all of price, service, and speed, but unfortunately since I'm not a corporate client I can only get to use them through a broker such as transdirect or couriersandfreight.
