ferchersan Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Aphex Twin - Classics - 1995, 2LP. Because I need a dose of techno nostalgia after last night... It was my birthday on Friday. I had a migraine for most of the day and had to cancel my plans. When Saturday rolled 'round I was feeling sorry for myself. A brief text from @O.Sydney... Do you wanna see Minilogue tomorrow night? That was all I needed to know... I was keen. I was also expecting it to be a warehouse party. You could imagine my surprise when I found out we were going to Home nightclub at Cockle Bay! We spent 45mins in a queue, waiting to have our id scanned and our photo taken by security. Many others hadn't made it this far. Punters were being picked out of the queue for being drunk, on drugs, unattractive, badly dressed, or just for moving around too much. Somethings never change! We finally get in there, 30 mins until Minilogue / Son Kite / Marcus Henriksen is on. There's posters up with the set times for each of the five different rooms. Ok, so Marcus is spinning in a room called The Box. Which room is that? I asked five different staff members, before I found somebody who could tell me where we needed to be. Despite a few early hiccups, it was a good night out. I found myself laughing a couple of times at how poorly organised it was. I was also having fun watching all the clubbers that had over indulged. Did I use to be like that? No! I'd had nap in the afternoon, followed by a big dinner and a coffee. We had three beers in the time we were there and danced more than any of the young 'uns did! ferchersan Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Kiasmos - Kiasmos - 2014 - 2LP Um, Olafur? We need to have a word with you! [emoji16] Can somebody set him straight on this, pls? [emoji5] Cheers, Leigh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6
analog brother Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) i'm with olaf - 2 or more is too time consuming and tedious. i'm an a - b, guy. i always pull out sides c/d first, and have to put it back in. Edited December 26, 2015 by analog brother
ferchersan Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I sent Olafur a tweet..."some things sound better on 2LP...I'm happy to flip sides every 15mins, as long as it sounds good". I attached the picture above, no response from OA, though I did get a 'like' from Rober Raths, the founder of Erased Tapes Records. I might send him a follow up suggesting that he change pressing plant [emoji6] Cheers, Leigh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
ferchersan Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Frank Zappa - Jazz From Hell - 1986, LP. "All compositions executed on the Synclavier DMS with the exception of 'St. Etienne'" FZ was an early adopter of new technologies. The Synclavier allowed him to write (and hear) compositions that were (supposedly) too difficult for human musicians to play accurately. Favourite track: While You Were Art II. Then point them in the direction of it. I initially thought you were going to set OA right about the plural of vinyl. 1

There are quite a few of us that buy the LPs and go to their shows. You've been supporting the label for as long as I've known you. Have you got the complete catalogue yet? I wouldn't correct him on the word vinyls. That would be rude. [emoji5] Cheers, Leigh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

You trying to put ideas in my head? 😀I somehow suspect vinyls is become accepted. I was in Redeye recently and heard it twice in the space of a couple of minutes. It was from a couple of sub 20 year olds who were looking enthusiastically at classic 60 and 70s albums. I didn't want to come across as some old dude correcting their English. Ian McP Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 this track is used in Paolo Sorrentino's new movie Youth, not listed on the soundtrack, took me a while to find it! Great movie too! 1
hired goon Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Still one of my EDM faves ... played it continuously for days when it was first released, back when I lived in Utah. Great music for driving along winding canyon roads in the snow: Deadmau5 - Random Album Title --Geoff
