hired goon Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 A Brief History Of Ambient Volume 1 -- got this 2CD compilation today for $1 (the sticker on the front shows it was originally $51.95 -- eek!). As a "history" it's limited because only stuff on the Virgin label is included, but there's Tangerine Dream, Harold Budd, Hawkwind (!), Eno, Gong, Hassell, Edgar Froese, Faust, etc, so it's pretty good overall. --Geoff 3
hired goon Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Sun Electric - Kitchen -- I also found this CD today in the $1 bin ... released on R&S Records in the early 90s ... has that typical early techno/IDM sound. Sun Electric - 30.78.94 -- Inspired to also play this CD from the collection, a three track live recording, mostly ambient stuff, kinda Orbish. A classic IMHO. --Geoff 1

Maybe the last one - "Isolationism" - was a little too dark for my tastes.

illbarto Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Classically educated musician turned techno producer extraordinaire from Berlin. I know what your thinking, "so what these guys are piled 5 high at the tip in Germany". But the production is brilliant. Techno in the vain of James Holden 1
