Had a quintessential "Should I click this link?" internet crisis. I decided I would risk it and it started playing some interesting sounds to me..

Yeah ... it does look suspicious. I emailed Ryan @ A Strangely Isolated Place and that was the link provided. Hoping that the bit-rate improves from 128 kbps to 192 kbps (which is apparently what the embedded web player and the apps use).

An alternative is to stream via the app and cast it to a bluetooth audio device.

Just gave it a spin and yeah it's a pretty good listen. Wouldn't this be more shoegaze  than darkwave but then again im hopeless with all of today's genres (used to be much simpler in the old days lol). Thanks for the recommendation.

I think they call it darkwave as it is based around synths.   Guitar based is shoegaze.   Some fans of either are not fans and of both - not me thou.

In the end, doesn't really matter.

anyway, check this chick out - damn fine

Maya Jane Coles ‎– Take Flight - 3 LP set from the English/Japanese Maya - superb downtempo trip hop - just the music for groovin to on an afternoon.

Have listened to several hours if this the last couple days when I'm just bimbling about the house or watching twitch streams that I don't need the sound. Not my usual cup of tea but really enjoying it for the times when I know I'm going to be too indecisive to choose something else.

Hi All,

I have gone back to the early 70s for what was called 'Krautrock', Kraftwerk, Radio-Activity

RadioActivity.jpg.74df43276e112a5df46538c448aa1002.jpg

From Wikipedia:

The term "krautrock" was coined by British music journalists in the early 1970s as a humorous umbrella label for the diverse German scene, though many so-labeled artists disliked the term. The movement was partly born out of the student movements of 1968, as German youth sought a unique countercultural identity and popular music distinct from American pop and traditional German music. The period contributed to the development of ambient music and techno, and influenced subsequent genres such as post-punk, new-age music, and post-rock.

Have you seen the Romantic Warriors IV – Krautrock DVD series? https://www.progdocs.com/rw-iv1/

I have a copy of RW III which covers the Canterbury scene.  It's very interesting if you're into that sort of music at all.

Leftfield ‎– Rhythm And Stealth.   original 1999 US pressing.

underrated darker 2nd album and just as enjoyable as their landmark 1st. Still sounds fresh as.  Playing this LOUD pins you to the back wall with its dynamics and attack

Love the artwork of the Back to Mine series. Similar to those adult colouring books in bookstores nowadays. Music selection is top choice too.

Thankyou. That made me want to hunt down the album to hear a better fidelity. And I did.

The record I have of this is pressed really well.  None- to - very little surface noise to speak of and SQ is great. Hope you had the same luck!

I've just started exploring the catalogue of this label sm-ll. Certainly isn't something with broad appeal, but I love it! Generally tends to be repetitive, sparse, employing a relatively limited sound pallette. You'll either love it instantly, or go 'huh?' To me, this kind of thing is the 'point' of electronic music.

An example:
