hired goon Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Belgrade United - In Deep United -- I've played the first track off this EP a couple of times today ... sounds kinda like a mix of Popcorn (with it's bounce), Autechre's Vletrmx21 (with its melody), and L.S.G.'s Fragile (with it's filtering and gating). "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp (for a limited time). --Geoff 1
tubularbells Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) Honestly cannot remember how I stumbled across "The Midnight" but do recall it was during one of my insomnia episodes very early one morning which I guess is kinda fitting inline with the music. 80's synth pop with epic saxophone breaks takes me right back to happy childhood times. I'd start with Nocturnal and work from there. Hooked me so much ive ordered their entire discography on vinyl which is saying a lot for me. MoveD Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Captagon - Rod Modell, better known as DeepChord. One of the better releases this year for me. The LP was mastered and cut by Simon Davey at The Exchange Vinyl and pressed by Optimal. You can always trust Tresor, their releases always has SQ to die for while it’s super quiet. ”All the usual DeepChord sounds are here: fizzing ambience, dub effects, percolating basslines, kick drums that sound like they're treading water. But it's all harder, faster and stronger. The tempo regularly surpasses 140 BPM, which gives the LP a driving force we haven't heard from Modell in a long time. Much of Captagon feels a bit like hurtling down a subway tunnel, consumed by the sound and chaos of motion itself. ” 2
