Depeche Mode ‎– Music For The Masses - original Mute 1987 UK release, MPO pressing.  still one of the most innovative dark synth albums ever - the sound scaping Andrew Wilder and David Bascombe got on this is incredible.

I will have to dig a copy of this up - never heard it, but I remember some of his other mixes back in the day were good.

I'm sure you know given you have other LP releases of GUs, but for the benefit of others who may have the CDs, the tracks aren't mixed.  Having said that I really like the selection of tracks chosen for this release.  They sound pretty good too.

I must admit I'm so excited to present this......

Flight Facilities - Down to Earth.  One of my all-time favourite chill/electronic albums.  And Aussie artists to boot :)

And yes I'm posting in coloured vinyl too.  Hope i'm not going to break any rules.....

Kilo

Kilo are Austrians Florian Bogner and Markus Urban, and this is their second full-length release on Onitor after 2004's "folktronic" Augarten release. As much as their music was located in the center of this newly-proclaimed genre, it also insisted on being different. Kilo produce electronic music which deals with patterns specific to the genre, which examines them in order to deconstruct them -- resulting in a complex, uncategorizably organic sound. Compared to Augarten, the music on this release is much more fragile: aside from the guitars and the clicks and the cuts, there are new sound elements creating musical intensity through denseness. Within the minimal genre, Kilo manage to wrassle the density into something that sounds like Robert Wyatt, Kai Althoff's workshop, or the New York no wave sound of the late '70s at the gateway between Brian Eno and DNA. This release is inspired by an amalgam of techno, house, free-jazz, rock, ambient and tape-music, and the pieces were built out of improvisation, even during the production process. Urban and Bogner usually work with artifacts of free improvisation, putting tiny little pieces together and making new connections by inviting guest musicians to try their hand at modification. For this release, Kilo invited musicians (double bass, trumpet, horns) from the Klangforum Wien for guest appearances. The combination of all these exciting elements can be heard on Kilo. - Forced Exposure review.

While on the topic of dark.  Jon Hopkins - Immunity.

Thoughts:

- This album proves you can get great bass from vinyl

- Abandon Window is on this album, and what a track.  Starts off with a catchy piano solo which repeats but not in an annoying way, then the complexity of layering is done to perfection.  With three distinct bass hits that literally shook my living room, the track almost morphs into what I picture in my mind as the very dark sombre elements of warfare.  If this description catches you, please listen and stream this song - it may be very well worth it.

Andrew Weatherall ‎– Masterpiece: Created By Andrew Weatherall - 2012 3LP Ministry Of Sound release - This truly is a masterpiece - the remixes are superb, pressing is perfect and the sound quality is insanely good.

Would love a copy of this....

Ironic that the opportunists asking crazy money for this release since his death espouse everything Weatherall detested.

Yep, even the cd is expensive.  A reissue would make sense, stop the flippers and give some $$ to his family.

Might also be that it's not available on spotify either.   Not sure about the other streaming services.
