Grimmie Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 Couple of albums today Flying Lotus 'Until the Quiet Comes' & Illum Sphere 'Ghosts of Then and Now' The former took quite a bit of getting into, still have to be in just the mood. The latter is a great album no effort required. 4

I remember back in the day the CD was out of print and peeps were paying silly money to get it. I emailed the record company asking if they had any copies and they sent me the CD (the cardboard sleeve edition) for nowt --Geoff 1

BugPowderDust Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Think you have your bottom end sorted in your system? You need to try this out up loud. Ghost Cloud by Ital Tek is an amazing track and one that will give your subs a great workout. Lots of musical sub bass which will challenge your system for the intersection of the kicks and the bassline and trying to keep them all separated and clear. 1
metal beat Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Global Communication – 76:14 - 2020 MOV reissue. This reissue seems to be very controversial as it is not sanctioned by Mark Prichard & Tom Middleton who also own the original master tapes . Its mastered by JONZ LOUD which is the famous UK mastering engineer John Dent @ his Loud studios. John passed away in 2017. It seems that MOV have got a hold of the 2005 masters that John did and they reissued without any approval. This at least seemed to trigger Global Communications to reissue the albums officially. BTW - this sounds absolutely superb and the pressing is perfect. John Dent certainly was one of the kings of vinyl mastering - RIP 1

BTW I also have the MoV reissue as I lost my patience waiting... I actually prefer the MoV’s cover. Higher quality with the silver foil varnish and textured cover. Edited October 30, 2020 by MoveD 1

The CD is a masterpiece from start to finish. Was at the Metro when Sasha played his first involver tour/set. It was his first gig where he performed the whole set with a laptop from start to finish. Of course using a laptop is quite the norm now.. It was such amazing night and set. Great memories. 1

BugPowderDust Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) Dusting off a few favourites from the past 10 years on my new deck. Ben Frost - By The Throat This is a great soundscape record by a Melbourne boy who now rarely plays at home. I saw him play this album on tour in 2014 and it was stunning, despite it being near 40 degrees outside and the venue constantly dripping condensation from the roof. hired goon Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Scape One - Dyson Swarm -- spotted on my Bandcamp feed the other day, liked the cover and had a lsiten. Described as "Kosmische Musik. Rythmic melodies, sequenced textures of synth waves and floating streams of space clouds.". So there's a spiky analog synths and plenty of bleeps and bloops. Noice. One quid for the lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff 1
