Ok, dumb question number 400. I’ve zoomed out and got the test pattern level at the top and sides (the bottom is off, but it was with the Epson as well).

I know this is a full 4K projector, but we actually want UHD on the screen (I have a 16:9 screen by the way), so when I zoom back in which part of the pattern do I actual want in there? Presumably I lose those two thin vertical sides, but do I actually want that inner rectangle fitting the screen?

Excuse the crappy photo

Nope never mind, just the thin bars on the side

when you fire up the projector for content don't be stressed if as booting up  - no signal you see blue bars either side left right, that's just because of panel size vs und format.

also the bottom of your screen looks off ...its possibly because the screen on the wall - a fixed screen is likely lifting up away from the wall.. or if fixed hard to wall then wall is wonky ? id check that anyways in first instance :)

I’m actually having a bit of trouble getting my inputs to show at all. I’ve turned on a bunch of stuff and am selecting it on the amp but I tend to just get no signal from the projector.

And yes the screen is off at the bottom, I don’t really know how to fix it to be honest

To my eye, that pattern means you need to turn the projector to the left (then use horizontal lens shift to get the image back on the screen) and lift the right side of the projector. Then you should have a nice rectangular image.

I can’t seem to work out how to get the peerless mount to turn the whole projector left to be honest, I might worry about that later ?

Yep I’m having real issues getting inputs to recognise. It did work briefly before but I just can’t get anything to recognise

Try the other HDMI input on the projector to see if that's the problem?

It’s how projector mount  is held, loosen slightly, turn ... I’d check screen is vertical first

Just did that, no dice.

So when I select an input on the amp with nothing plugged in, I do see the Marantz logo so that’s being recognised.  When I switch to an active input, I get a black screen and then a no input blue screen.

Now I have a bit of an odd setup in that I go out of the amp into a Bluestream HDBaseT box, then Ethernet up to the HDBaseT receiver, then hdmi out of that into the projector. I don’t think I have a long enough hdmi cable to try bypassing that HDBaseT box though.

I've done the same before - can't wait to give it a whirl. Then the OCD kicks in later...

Haha - precisely why I didn't want to go down that path and just had a straight fiber HDMI cable from projector to receiver. That said, you mentioned it WAS working (I think?) so ... ???

Maybe 6m?  I do think I have a really long one but it definitely won’t be 4K compatible. I’ll try it anyway if I can find it.

Yep I got the PlayStation up and working previously. It wouldn’t have anything to do with settings on the actual devices would it?

Wouldn't have thought so, unless you are trying to have ATV 4K set to 4:4:4 @ 60hz or something in which case you might see a HDMI out of range error - different to No Signal.

Ok, well, interesting. I just plugged a hdmi cable into my macbook and into a spare input on the receiver, and that's working....

Do you have the resolution on the Marantz set to Auto? I'd suggest Auto if you haven't.

With the ATV on and JVC on, try rebooting the Marantz while the ATV is the selected source.

ATV has a cable test, but not much use if can’t see anything. Should see something !

Alright that didn’t help, however, I tried unplugging the hdmi for the PlayStation from the game input on the marantz and moved it to aux1. That worked. So what does that suggest, some sort of memory/handshake thing with the inputs?

If only 6m I’d pop into officeworks while still open. Grab the comsol 10m 4k

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-high-speed-hdmi-cable-with-ethernet-10m-cohdmi100

known combo jvc, marantz, atv4k, xboxonex, pana uhd.

passes every test, passes full bandwidth if doesn’t you know it’s not cable ... office works will take back no question asked

Well I’m stumped for now. anything I plug in the front HDMI port (Aux1) on the Marantz works fine. Anything plugged into the back doesn’t work at all. What.

I’ve unplugged all the hdmi cables and turned off the PJ and Marantz. Will leave it for a while then try again. Man!

What resolution is the Playstation - HD or 4K?

Have you tried the cable test option on the ATV?
