The i9-9960x is a MUCH better cpu than the Xeon Silver 4108 in just about every area! More cores/threads. Higher clock speed. I’d be using this as a daily machine. Totally overkill for a Plex server especially if you are only serving one or two devices. If your daily use case is web browsing and emails, you may not experience much real world difference. If you use a lot of photoshop/in design you will experience better performance using the P4000/i9-9960x in the daily machine as this benefits mildly from better GPU acceleration. Likewise if editing videos (and 4k content) more RAM and better GPU will provide better performance. Gaming would also be improved with the better GPU albeit a GTX or RTX card would perform better compared to a Quadro for this. Note: you’d want to check your ram is compatible before you swap it. Chances are the 64gb is ECC which you’d want to check is compatible in your motherboard (most likely is). Also confirm if it’s udimm or rdimm (unregistered or registered) memory and if that is compatible in your motherboard. Edited April 28, 2020 by fury 1 1
