blackspot1553552708 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I am thinking seriously about selling my Perreaux CD1. It is a fine player, but to be honest I brought it as a match for my amp which I love and while good, it is not what I like. I paid 2 grand second hand and would let it go for around half that. If anyone is interested PM me. I dont need to sell it, but I am getting a reasonable collection of old CDPs and dont want to add to the crowd.
sjc Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Now that the auction has finished, what did you replace it with? I use the same amp as you and wondered if you found a good match? cheers Sam
blackspot1553552708 Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Still working on that. I was tempted to pick up a Marantz SA11 (I have always had a thing about this manufacturer) But this fell through I am looking to spend between $2000 and $3000. Though I will probably listen to an Apollo which is below that and also the CEC. I have done "tube modded" route in the past, which gave very similar results to the Perreaux, (which was an impulse buy....slightly regretted) God I dont really know...what do you think?
sjc Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 The Marantz would be a very well made I bet. I use a 840c with the 200ip and they seem to be a decent match. The apollo didnt work great in my setup but that is my speakers I think. The audiolab 8000CD matched well but not the most detailed, good full sound though. love to hear what you think of the cec, reviews sound/opinions are good. keep us updated!
Bazza2u Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Someone told me the Perreaux CD players are just a Rotel innards put into a Perreaux case... You pay a big premium to have it in the Perreaux box. blackspot;46465 wrote: I am thinking seriously about selling my Perreaux CD1. Bazza2u Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Be interesting to take the lid off the two and put them side by side eh? My source was pretty sure there was no difference.

Tell your source that he's an idiot.
Omegaspeedy Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Go borrow the TRI CD4SE and throw it in your system for a few days. You should get one new for around the $2500 mark. They are $3000RRP.
LHH Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 You may want to look at the original date of posting.

As LHH has pointed out, the original comments were over a year ago. More damage done by resurrecting this old thread B.
