I’m am trying out some LCD4Z’s

They’re very good. Very different to the HE-6SE’s in presentation. Much less aggressive and visceral, less powerful slam/impact but more depth and texture. I've only listened to one live recording so far but it seems they’re a great complement to each other.

Taking the DHC Molecule 19 hybrid cable for a spin on the 4Z’s too.

How do you find the fit with the 4z? I couldn't take a clamp pressure on my cheek bones for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Perfectly fine. I would not say they’re clampy. The HE-6SE with the Audeze protein pads clamp a touch harder actually. These 4Z’s have the older ultrasoft memory foam pads if that is possibly a difference to the newer ones?

That could be it, I was using a recent set - or my head is odd/sensitive to pressure

The new sets also have a brass/copper mesh rather than the yellow that you're seeing.

In terms of clamp pressure, you can reduce that with a shorter suspension strap extending the rods more. Also changing the pads from leather to the newer 2021 leather-free ear pads helps too, since they compress more.

Well I guess that's a perk of having a class A amp...

The current config:

Mullard 5U4G rectifier, RCA 6SN7GT grey glass drivers, Tungsol 5998 power, all fed from the Aqua DAC....The headphones aren't in the pic for a reason..

Brilliant choice. ZABA was made for tubes.

Just sorta chillin in midfi right now.  To my left I've got one of the clearest amps I've ever heard. To my right I've got one of the darkest amps I've ever heard. Both amps put me in a music bliss  In the middle I've got a black silk hd650.

Hey anyone got a SW51+ for sale? I want another for my desk at work.

It's a SET amp with EF184 tubes (really cheap), just a headphone out but can drive high and low impedance headphones.

So, I have gone full electrostat.....Stax X9000 and CRBN. I blame Terry @GC HiFi for introducing me to tasty gear from Mola and Antipodes, so that now my digital front end (ooer missus!) has completely changed. Goodbye G2.1/Phoenix and hello K50. Bit of a Mola combo above. Have to decide if I'm keeping Raal/Susvaras as they need power amps or for the Sus maybe some Ferrum or Feliks Envy goodness.

Well, this is obviously my headphones setup+ other stuff. These are Grado SR 125’s connected to a Creek OBH-11 headphone amp. The turntable is a Project carbon with Grado Platinum connected (beautifully retipped through Turntables and Needles in Portland Oregon) to an ifi phono preamp. More ancillary stuff in the photo is a Speakercraft BB 275 amp running through a Rotel RC970 BX preamp and my oldie but a goodie-Marantz DV6500 super audio CD player. Oh, and the speakers are Canton wall mounts with another oldie but a goodie Yamaha YST-SW120 subwoofer.
