OK I just discovered I should not have started looking for pictures of headphones for 2 sheds - apparently there is a serious world of headphone fetish out there - I have lived a very sheltered life!!! - Here are some of the family pictures!

Gee's what was I thinking last night posting those last few pictures - one beer too many me thinks!

Headphone pr0n. Gadgets and ladies... what a match....

My latest audio purchase has been keeping my ears and eyes very happy at work. It sounds even better than it looks too. Love it!

No, there is STAX, then there is everything else.

I've been using STAX cans since the mid 80's. I have dynamics too, and have heard a lot of others, but nothing is as good as an electrostatic for headphones.

Yep, A9X. I'll take a pair of those Stax SR-007Mk2's....:) As you say - Stax are way out front.

cheers

It really is quite disturbing what you find on the internet these days. its just not right - especially for someone so open to addictive behaviour as myself - i thought collecting speakers and audio gear was a nice family hobby - now I find myself going back to the headphone fetish site for a secoond night running.

Here’s what the site has to say for itself:

You might wonder why such a strange fetish has a huge website devoted to it. The answer is simple - it has lots of really devoted fans, who scour the internet day and night to find awesome pictures for the site.

You won’t find any explicitly sexual images on the site, as this fetish tends be more orientated towards an aesthetic appreciation of ladies in headphones.

OK I promise not to go back to that site again its not healthy for me. Last pictures for 2 Sheds! I really promise

Hey Andy,

I know where there is a set of these Float headspeakers for sale if you are interested.

Could be just the thing for ensuring you get a seat to yourself on the bus:D

Hey Dragon they look really good - can I ask where you got the cups done or was it a DIY?

4Hks - I could be convinced to invest in a pair of those - more to keep the wife and kids entertained! But only if they where CHEAP! How much?

How about a set of these Andy...? :)

It was a DIY job by some Aussie on Head-Fi.org. See http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/denon-ah-d2500-see-inside-how-create-these-285223/ for details and some awesome pics of the process. I purchased the 'phones in the pictures from him 2nd hand. He however has made a few pairs of just the cups for sale that cost between 150 and 200 depending on the wood (or more if you want to go super exotic like these for instance cost 350 in the end I think for the wood and associated effort http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/denon-ah-wd2000-rl-edition-345659/).

Head-fi is even more of a scary hobby than stereo gear. Because you can get flagship models for sub 1k instead of 10s of thousands as with stereo gear, you see people with massive collections of gear. Just as some members on here are branching out and trying different secondary systems (e.g. valves, high eff, OBs, etc...) most seasoned head-fi members have at least 2 high-end complete systems with different flavours. For instance lots of them will have a seperate dynamic headphone and electrostatic headphone setup. Because components are also cheaper many members will also have multiple amps and sources for the same system and just mix and match them depending on their mood and type of music they are listening to. Crazy stuff. The one good thing about it is that if you are strong willed and only want to get one set of equipment (and not get sucked into building a collection of gear) head-fi.org is a wealth of information because so many people on there have tried just about every single combination of equipment and can recommend those with the right synergies and sounds for your music/preferences.

I've gotten my Ultrasone Edition 9 headphones already. I like them but some people may not. I didn't end up getting a Rudistor RPO10B MkII amplifier but I don't care because instead of that one I'm getting something else. Hopefully the amplifier will get here in about one or two months. Hopefully anyway. I was going to get my Edition 9 headphones balanced because the amplifier is balanced but then I will probably need a balanced CD player as well. Oh well that will be my next purchase, a balanced CD player.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD414 which I have replaced the foam earpieces for about 3 times. I have had them for 25 years now as for some silly reason I still have the receipt in the original box. $59 in 1983. Quite a bit of money in that prehistoric era!
