Niktech Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 I'm using a few of those Whites anti-vibration pads under the Taurus. I haven't made it yet to IKEA for a few bamboo boards. I'm also using a heavy marble slab under the 8.5 kg Pontus.
RePete Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I’ve recently got into headphones after purchasing a pair of LCD2’s in the classifieds. They were nice but a trip to minidisc saw the discovery of Grado’s and I walked out with a pair of GH4’s. They suited my ears more so the LCD2’s went to make way for the PS1000’s Just finished building my Oatley Electronics valve amp ( thanks to @mwhouston for the help with the volume control) and it’s sounding very nice. 1

Well you would have really coped it for this. I made a tube amp out of a chopping board. https://retro-thermionic.blogspot.com/2013/08/arabella-6em7-amplifier-on-acacia.html 2

Ehrmantraut Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Matt you are the man - what are you using with 339 that the Oblivion doesn't cover? Assuming only Yggy as DAC.

RankStranger Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Guys, for real it sometimes takes me 20 minutes and 3 aborted albums just to decide what music to listen to. How are you adding which amp and which cans to that and not going mad?

Assuming only Yggy as DAC. Bass weight - tight, impactful and controlled. That's from the 339. Oblivion is about details, clarity, soundstage and instruments separation. In all these, Oblivion beat 339 but the latter has that gorgeous, seductive bottom - don't get wrong ideas 1
Ehrmantraut Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Wow you really rate 339 and that says a lot coming from you. Is it ok with stock tubes? I recall you mentioning that you spec'd in some really nice ones.
Ehrmantraut Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 And whilst we're talking tube amps, did anyone here get to try the Dragon Inspire HA-1?
Odyssey Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Neil, stock tubes for La Figaro 339 are pretty crap. Get RCA Red Hots 5693 (drivers) and a good pair of Tung Sol 5998 or Bendix 6080wb(power tubes). Unfortunately these power tubes are harder to get now and if you do find new ones, they are very expensive. Woo Audio still sell the Tung Sol 5998 at US$899 a match pair. Alternatively get RCA 6AS7G - these have pronounced bass. GEC 6AS7G are as you would have heard the holy grail of 6AS7 and 6080 so they will cost an arm and a leg. Or maybe just an arm. I've not personally heard the Dragon Inspire HA-1 but it is well regarded. Xecuter is selling his priced Eddie Current Studio special edition. You may be interested.
Bengineer Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 We know where @Benjet lives. And I know for a fact he as a stash of killer 5998/6080
Odyssey Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 I'm curious what amp Benjet using his 5998 / 6080 in.

RankStranger Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 (edited) think I’m ready to post here now. Not quite up the the standard of some of the systems here but it’s come a long way since the before times in the long long ago (April this year) and I’m not anticipating making any more changes for now Auralic Aries mini going USB via AQ jitterbug into Klein III, both fed by a diy LPSU and analogue out into the xduoo hybrid head amp with a diy cable into the BeoPlay H6 gen 1 cans. I also have the TT running through the head amp so I can listen to records on headphones too. USB cable is supra, DC cables are diy w/ canare, XLR to rca are diy w/ furutech cable Edited November 24, 2020 by RankStranger 2

Which headphones are you using on 339 and for Oblivion?
Odyssey Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 I'm using Verite, HD800, HD650, T1.2 and LCD-3f on 339. Of these I use LCD-3f and Verite the most but occasionally I'm pleasantly surprised with what I hear when I use HD800. HD650 sounds superb with LF339. Oblivion drives any of these headphones because it has a high and low impedance switch. I use LCD-3 the most with Oblivion but every other headphones sounds very good with it too. I'm about to get LCD-X which I've heard before with Oblivion. When I have LCD-X briefly before, it was more thumping in the bass than LCD-3 - very much to my surprise. The highs are very clear too without being fatiguing. 1
vinilink Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Very happy with SQ and so convenient being wireless. 1
bruc3 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 My current setup with my recently acquired LF339 4
