Yetiman Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 My new Amp "Artemis" Fantastic... With the Pontus. 3 2
Ehrmantraut Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Yetiman - what are your impressions of the Artemis? You must be one of the only (maybe the only) Aussie to have one. Haven't seen any blogs on it. Denafrips is good gear.
Niktech Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Very nice. A class with Ultra low noise linear power supply; with similar tech to the Terminator DAC. This was one the cards for me too at one stage, but I couldn't find any user reviews - or blogs as mentioned above - only professional reviews, 6Moons etc
Bengineer Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 @PassionForSound Just reviewed it I think. 2
Yetiman Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 The sound is exceptional and it's beautifully built. 1 1

The Pontus and Artemis must be a great pairing. I have the Pontus paired with a Taurus Mk II, and am thoroughly enjoying it Edited December 8, 2020 by Niktech Spelling 2
Niktech Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Are you @Yetiman using the I2S connection (HDMI or RJ45) to the Pontus? Denafrips say it is the best of all inputs on its DACs. In the next few weeks I'm going to buy a Denafrips Iris DDC. It is the base model, however Blake on Audiophile Style says it is very good. He has both Iris and Gaia in his primary and secondary systems.
Yetiman Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 No @Niktech But I will give it a try when I get home to see if there is a difference . 1
Yetiman Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 At the moment I'm using USB from my Surface Pro to Pontus, And Optical from my Bluray Player to Pontus.

Bengineer Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Audeze LCD-3F coming up for sale soon folks. Just need to take some snaps. Just put on the new headband, defiantely makes a big difference to comfort.
bruc3 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 @Bengineer so going for another headphone or speakers exclusively? Don't tell me you are getting the Arya's.

If they didn't fkn squeek at me like a little mouse every time I move them, I may almost consider it. Another headphone Bruce. Yet....another....headphone.... 1

Bengineer Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 It's not upgrades anymore though. The EQ'd D8000 Pro was as good of a headphone as anything else on the planet. At that $3500-6000 range, its all good, just comes down to being different and fitting peoples tastes. But I'm still not using them enough to justify that price tag, so I've scaled the headphone back to maybe around $2k. Good enough for the 5% use. Loving the KEF LS50W II though. Just need some Aperta stands for them and I'm sorted. 1
Odyssey Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Dang @Bengineer your LCD-3f sold faster than I expected. But this is a post a picture of your headphone setup and here's my current setup and as good as the Axis Voicebox S sounds, I still love listening with my LCD-X or LCD-3f. 3 1

Same with me - Surface Pro to Pontus via USB Try the Matrix X SPDIF 2. It converts USB to LVDS (I2S), optical and digital coax. It reclocks etc. Some DACs don't line up with it's implementation of I2S as there is no standard right now. So you may find that the Singxer or Gustard models work better. All are cheap, well made and work really well. YMMV. 1 1
Niktech Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Yes, I too heard that due to the lack of an I2S standard there can be compatibility issues.

One for sure works with PS audio gear if that helps at all. Sorry i'm not sure about Denafrips.

Denafrips Iris is ~$200 more than the Matrix X, so that's I price difference I could wear as it has great internals. I was thinking of getting the PS Audio i2s HDMI to connect with the Pontus. I may update that down the track with a Tubulus Argentus or possiblly a Phasure HMDI^2. 1
