Stuzzo1553552685 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Not sure what you can get exactly out of the iTouch via AV (ie more than just video and audio files playing). It's not going to provide all you wish though, as with the iTouch plugged in you have no free controller. Sounds more like what the Apple TV could do, or in particular the anticipated new version rumored to be called iTV. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/08/11/report_next_apple_tv_to_be_renamed_itv_drop_1080p.html This will be iOS based and there will be app. development Otherwise the PS3 does roughly what you require with the exeption of purchasing music.
x-large1553552716 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think the video output on the iPod is just for video playback. Don't think it will show cover art. Pretty easy to check, just plug it in and see. I second what Stuzzo said, the Apple TV should do what you're after.

Agree about the Apple TV. The idea of an iPod dock seems a little bit dated now. Even though it now seems to have become an accepted accessory for a lot of systems. An iPod to me, now means an interface. Most digital music has it's origins in a computer or server. That's where it should stay in my view.
