I've got the WAF for the L & R channels ,I don't know if she'll approve a 1.8m wide centre channel :) . But I have this ,just need to paint it black to match the other too .

Cheers

That's not a speaker stand... this is a speaker stand  :)

I recently demonstrated my high efficiency Beyma speakers (retro-thermionic - VoXConcentriC) and 12" subbies (VoXItBassO) at the Melbourne Audio Club. I used my 6W 300B to power them. Amazingly they played very loud. At 98db efficient 6W goes a hell of a long way. The subbies were also powered by the 300B. The bass was OK but with the subbies only being 90db efficient I should have used a separate amp to drive a little more power into them. Got lots of real nice comments in the night with most members (about 80 in all) being able to note what they liked and didn't like. All in all a great evening. Evil C was there.

gainphile; took a look at your blog. Impressive speakers. I see there is a dipole theme there. What are the efficiencies of the drivers used and who's drivers? With a number of low power tube and SS amps efiiciencies are important.

And I'm just down the road from you.

Just ordered the Boozehound Pre Pre kit.

It's based on or similar to the Le Pacific. I've made a few of these no need for a kit.

You don't need me to say these are probably not the best sounding interconnects on planet earth do you?

Probably not, but you're gonna say it anyway

Hey DVP, RCA Splitters can only mean mutiple Amps, cool

Yes for the shed system.

:)

Knowing is good. If you act on it even better.

Given the quality of the rest of the gear, this will do for now.

Jaycar has some highend gold plated RCA doublers. I use them myself they look good and work well. Also some cheaper RCA doublets. Not so good.

I have better ones here too.

Just using these for now while I'm working out the best way to set things up.

Turns out I didn't need them in the end after all.

But I never pass on an opportunity to strip some wire and do a bit of soldering.

:)

At least these days I DO solder/heatshrink stuff.

Wasn't that long ago everything was just twist 'n tape.

:ban:

Or in some cases, crimp connectors....

This one

Got a couple to play around with as a separate source for VU meters etc.

Might use one for a small boombox project or something.

Battery powered setup for phone....who knows.

Not expecting a lot from them.

Was buying some other stuff on eBay and it popped up in the "You might also like..." suggestion box.

Get some 2" drivers, fire up the lathe and make some mini horns

@@Dirty_vinylpusher I'd like to see that.

The idea is in my head now........

That's how it begins.

And why other projects don't get finished.

Actually, was that a slightly excited

Ooh, cool, I'd like to see that! :thumb:

Or more of a

Yeh, sure, I'd like to see you do THAT

I'd go for #1, knowing how you DIY....

Update to the 2" dome waveguide project:

Made a fibreglass negative mold from the wood/bog positive mold, then the final fibreglass waveguide part from the negative mold. I added a small flange to the back to distribute the force of the driver pushing outward and give me a place to put a foam gasket.

Measurements done on my test baffle:

20104264772_69a7c702f7_o.png

Pretty good except for the slight peak at 2kHz and dip at 5kHz. Almost perfect 6dB/octave roll off above 3kHz. Placing an electrical lowpass at around 1.5-2kHz should deal with the peak and hit an almost perfect 3kHz acoustical slope.

I adjusted the level of the non-WG measurement 3dB to bring it up to the level (96dB SPL @ 30cm) of the WG measurement at 1KHz so harmonic distortion could be compared.

3rd and 5th distortion went down in the 1-4kHz problem area as expected. It would go down even further if i had EQ'd the bump around 2KHz down to the same level as the non-WG measurement. The increase in 2nd and 4th order is from the mic being subjected to higher SPL. There is an increase in distortion around 800Hz, this is to be expected since the waveguide gives no significant gain to the fundamental around there, but does give significant gain to the harmonics.

Finally some paint so it looks pretty:

Now i just need to make another one
