michaelw Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 with my decades old bottles of last stylast and stylus cleaner (2 different products) reaching their end is sought out replacements. i happened to be in wellington visiting a friend, so we stopped in to real music company and left with a tiny bottle of liquid gold, lyra spt (stylus performance treatment). so far on two disparate systems the results have been stunning. with my dv20x2 low... surface noise, especially between tracks has reduced. cartridge tracking seems to have improved. ime best stylus cleaner so far
Guest Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 $90 rrp comparable to overseas pricing, eg. $60usd, £29-35 expensive but very effective
Owen Y Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Hmmm good, it coats the stylus, I think J Carr indicated somewhere...
callpaul Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Sounds interesting. I'm a bit wary of using liquids though - going up cantilever etc. I use Onzow Zerodust, sort of gelatinous stuff that certainly cleans the stylus even when it looks clean. Reusable and doesn't leave residue
Owen Y Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 The Zerodust (& clones) has a legion of fans. Stylus liquids (Stylast etc) usually are applied by brush with just a touch on the stylus tip. Also most cantilevers are either solid rods or flattened tubes with glue-bonded stylus. I'd say little risk of 'capillary action' up the cantilever. I wouldn't be concerned.
