betty boop Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Anyone been to Rone Empire ? what a work of art ! I was stunned beyond belief. so much work gone into it and yet what will be a temporary installation. it photographs incredibly well ! There is much on the net, so I tried to stick to what caught my eye wandering around ps if you missed out on tickets... can suggest if can just turn up during the week they will take your money and let you in... probably wont be able to do that on the weekends though... Such a majestic building thats been lost to the world for some 20 years... great to see being utilised this ways... it will be a 6 star restaurant and hotel one day and work underway for that. hope gets there as something of its beauty is worth sharing, 3
evil c Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Amazing place@betty boop I walked through the Alfred Nicholas gardens recently and was appalled at the neglect to the exterior facade of Burnham Beaches. My wife and I went there for dinner 30 years ago and it was one of the most magical gastronomic experiences you could have ! Peacocks strolling around the gardens, with this opulent classic building and interior design like a time warp from the art deco period .One of the best dinners too , very memorable! Interesting times with how it will transform , and how committed they will be in expending a vast amount financially that it requires to restore properly. 1

We are regular visitors to the gardens and surrounds as got married not far in a lovely autumn park not far away. 2 minutes ago, evil c said: My wife and I went there for dinner 30 years ago and it was one of the most magical gastronomic experiences you could have ! One of the best dinners too , very memorable! you are so lucky to have experienced, especially with the dinner and how it must have been. closest we have come prior to today was sneaking in wife and I into the building surrounds to marvel of what a beautiful art deco piece it is. Feel so privileged to visit today and walk within and dont know if have gone through... perhaps you shouldn't if remember it as was. but I think its going to come up a treat once they have done with it. I do hope they keep as much as possible its art deco feel and features. I dont know if there is anything else quite like it in melbourne. 5 minutes ago, evil c said: Interesting times with how it will transform , and how committed they will be in expending a vast amount financially that it requires to restore properly. I am sceptical what will transpire. interestingly the crate of bottles I photo graphed was about only thing in the building when we wandered past few years ago. so good something is happening. We were told the building has a swimming pool and even a movie theatre within which seems amazing. the rooms itself have such an ambience, the way its built. gorgeous. I hope we get to see it restored and maybe catch a meal there some day.... 1
betty boop Posted April 18, 2019 Author Posted April 18, 2019 for the old meets new, I should have mentioned, one surprise was the Virtual Reality (VR) aspect as with Augmented Reality (AR) experiences also included.... in an upper room they had augmented reality going on... so could look with a tablet (ipad) onto the room and click past and look at the room as pan around with the iPad and how looked 12 months ago... and then click present and it panned around as current. pretty interestingly done...no head set required. good display of AR done very simply. and then in the lower room you could pop on a VR headset and there was a 8 min experience where they talked through the project. comes to light the sheer effort gone in. Also become aware what a work of illusion "The Study" - flooded library is. won't give away any much more there to leave as surprise. 1
