Soundscape Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 I haven't started a thread in ages, probably because they are about as popular as a fart in the lift, and deservedly so. Whatever. So, on the back of one vote in the currently spinning thread, I am starting a noise (music) thread. I choose to start the thread, , , , now Orchestra of Constant Distress 2016 LP on 8mm Records Minimal musical content, maximal volume and distortion. This album is the first of three (so far) by this band that is 50% made up of the remains of Skull Defekts, a recently defunkt Scandinavian noise-rock band. This is really good shiz, so get it up ya, noisesters. 1
Citroen Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Arash Moori – Heterodyne Electronic industrial techno noise from Madrid based Brit Arash Moori. https://soundcloud.com/_type/heterodyne 1
Soundscape Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 Pierce Warnecke & Louis Laurain - Phonotypic [sic] Plasticity Introspective noise and drones currently rolling on cassette on Astral Spirits, an adventurous experimental music label based in Austin, Texas.
Soundscape Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 Iannis Xenakis - PersepolisXenakis must have been a genius. How else could one even conceive of such rapturous noise? https://karlrecords.bandcamp.com/album/persepolis
Soundscape Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 So, let's continue the most ignored thread on SNA [emoji867]Tonight it's Alessandro Cortini with Merzbow. Particularly ugly synth based noise, but it has its charms. Confused? Couldn't care less? Tell me about it.PS these Spendors are great with this shiz. So full of texture and nuance. Love it!
ericd Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 @Dave O))) So you may be the only person on SNA interested in hearing these results of some recent knob twiddling and square pushing that I have been indulging in. I can't wait for this to be the most ignored post in the most ignored thread on SNA 2
Soundscape Posted August 27, 2019 Author Posted August 27, 2019 Good stuff Mr D. I always have an ear for your recommendations. It seems there are one or two lurkers here. Perhaps we can hook them up before reeling them in. Is this a thread, or should we call it a wire, with fine serrations and some carefully placed barbs? I was listening to some Radiohead earlier which was nice but, really, rock music is so passe. The real meat lies buried, underground. Even Radiohead know that. So many discoveries await our pleasure. Much digging to do. Jon Wesseltoft & Balazs Pandi - Terreng. Drones, drums and noise. Just lovely. 1
ericd Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Here's the undisputed modern master. Was at this gig Of course the point of a Merzbow gig is to feel it more than hear it! 1
ericd Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 My current favourite noise-related video on you tube. Believe it or not, it's a synth review.
ericd Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 (edited) I finally got myself one of those 0coast synths. Inspired by our friend in the above 'review' I recorded this: Edited August 24, 2020 by ericd
t_mike Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 26 minutes of raw screeching electric guitar feedback. Now THIS is noise. Batty Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I'll just drop this here..... I had this many many moons ago, a group of us used to pass it around, the rules were, you had to listen in pairs and you were not allowed to pass it on until you had played the whole album. Second person was there as a witness.

metal beat Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Davo and co. I can honestly say I have never seen this POS thread b4. Just let me say, I will be posting 2morrow stay tuned 2
Soundscape Posted December 27, 2020 Author Posted December 27, 2020 Party Dozen released one of my fave albums this year. This is their 2017 debut. Brilliant rhythmic noisescapes and riffs. Sometimes I think their pithy pieces would suit a film score, other times I can imagine some heavy rhymes being spat out by a hardcore rapper. Great Aussie band Carn Shane, show us ya noise! 2
metal beat Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Party Dozen is way cool Davo. @Soundscape New War - self titled album from 2012 - another Aussie band that makes a bit of Noise - everything starts and stops with the drums with dark keyboards - very good post rock 1
Esoterica Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 I'll join in! I don't mind a bit of Lightning Bolt occasionally and have listened to a few noise acts over the years, like Melt-Banana. I used to be into industrial noise too. 1
Soundscape Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 Is it electronic, or is it avant garde? Fcukit, it's noise and I love it. Guy Reibel, pioneer of sound 3
BugPowderDust Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I’ve always been a big fan of one of the originators of the power electronics scene who don’t get the recognition they deserve: WHITEHOUSE I was fortunate enough to see them at the Corner Hotel for What Is Music? one year (2003?). Bennett and co were always lunatics, but never really got the respect a Merzbow got. It’s been refreshing to see a few techno artists like surgeon putting their tracks into their sets in recent times. Breakdowns in a techno set with samples and sections of Dumping The ******* Rubbish are designed to melt your brain. 1
Soundscape Posted June 26, 2021 Author Posted June 26, 2021 Sun Ra earlier Now Iannis Xenakis Both visceral and cathartic in their own ways
FRG Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 (edited) Music is just...organised noise I figured posting this was appropriate. And here's some genuine noise to legitimise the post: Edited July 15, 2021 by FRG
