Still none in stores...

Good Guys were saying they expected them either by Friday (2 days ago) or if not, Monday (tomorrow).

Had one JB store tell me they weren’t even sure if they were getting them in, or not many if any...stating their new cheaper brands are where they were heading, which concerned me greatly.

But that was only one branch - other JB stores were just saying Panasonic stock was late & they expected normal stock numbers...

65” 1000U models at Essendon & Melton The Good Guys according to their website. Also some NSW branches have them.

(Confirmed with Essendon over phone).

Encouraging. Only 10ms difference than the LG C9 for gaming...which won’t impact the games I play anyway. Everything else looks great. & the fact it’s considered the best value is a bonus...the Yanks won’t like that at all.

I had a look at the 55” on display yesterday (65 was still boxed), but couldn’t change the picture mode off the Vivid ‘store setting’....Very annoying how manufacturers do this. We are spending thousands & should be able to change basic settings (I get how retailers/manufacturers are annoyed when people tinker with brightness etc, but a simple ‘restore to defaults’ for each picture mode will make that easy to fix).

Hey Whipped. That’s last year’s model though ?

Bit of an update - I went through with the purchase of the TH-65GZ1000U. Wall mounted it yesterday & have been setting it up to play nice with IQ4/PS4/Apple TV4K & AVR, which I’ve just about completed. It’d be great if content on ATV4K could confirm if Dolby Vision is being displayed though (the Video Format within the ATV states “4K HDR” when passing though the AVR.....what’s confusing is when the ATV4K was directly connected to the TV, the Video Format was “4K Dolby Vision”).

What’s the best way to confirm if Dolby Vision is being streamed?

Picture wise, it’s great. Still deciding between “THX Cinema” & “True Cinema” picture modes, with “Professional 2” a distant 3rd.

Foxtel’s 4K F1 coverage is stunning, but I feel 1080p content could almost look as good, if only Foxtel boosted the bandwidth to the HD channels...

YouTube 4K demos are a joy to watch in non “Shop mode” picture ?

Now, to find a decent 4K player to handle the imminent UHD BD collection. ?

Yep, considering I still use an 8 year old Samsung plasma I’d be ok with last years oled, let’s face it that’s where the bargains are anyway, even if you buy the latest right now, in less than 12 months it ain’t the latest.

I didn’t mean to suggest anything negative.

Just that this thread was for information on 2019 models.

It’s all good & congrats on the deal.

Yeh I knew that all good, not being up on the latest models I saw Panasonic + 950 model + oled + 65” = $2399 and figured it was a hot price for an oled.

haven’t purchased, but noticing some pretty good moves in price recently on big screens which is promising for when I do.

Well to my surprise, i've managed to get Atmos working through the HDMI2 (ARC) port of the GZ1000U.

Netflix Atmos content now gets detected by the AVR.

I didn't have the front presence speakers activated, so once they were & then plugging in a couple of book shelf speakers, Atmos is now transmitted.

I realise it sounds silly to expect Atmos when I didn't have any Atmos speakers set up, but prior to these changes, the Apple TV4K was sending Atmos & the AVR was picking it up no problem, with the 5.1 set up I had...

Hey Ray. Yeah I’m loving the natural picture the GZ series produces. The are a lot of settings options for people who like to tinker with them though. I just leave it on THX Cinema myself.

I’m yet to test it for gaming, but it handles movies & sport very well - UHD BD’s are what it craves of course, but Foxtel’s 4K sports channel looks pretty amazing.

The remote is of high quality too, though my Harmony’s ‘learnt’ all the necessary commands from it, so I won’t make use of it myself.

Here’s a review of the 65GZ1000U...

https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/panasonic-tx-65gz1000

Should I buy the Panasonic TX-65GZ1000 4K TV?

The fact that the GZ1000 doesn’t represent the zenith of Panasonic’s OLED line should give rival manufacturers pause for thought. It combines sensational image processing with a refreshingly sensible approach to HDR.

HDR10, Dolby Vision or HDR10+, this set plays ball with them all. Only Philips promises the same level of compatibility.

Overall usability is high, and build quality fine. We rate the TX-65GZ1000 as an outstanding premium OLED screen.

I picked up a 65 GZ1000U for  $3863 a couple of weeks ago but only managed to get it up on the wall today, now I need to run a new HDMI up the wall as the current one doesn't cut the mustard for 4K.

No not JB it was The Good Guys Commercial, if you sign up to  gdayrewards.com.au ($50 for 2 years) you can then get access to TGG Commercial which is one of their rewards partners.
