Festooned Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 (edited) Item: Texas Instruments TPA3255EVM - Amplifier evaluation module. (Stereo or mono configurable) >200WPC in stereo (!) into 8ohms Location: ADL Price: $120 including shipping to the mainland Item Condition: New, unused. Reason for selling: Too many projects Payment Method: Cash, Bank Deposit, Paypal. Pick up or happy to post. Extra Info: These are $231 from Digikey. https://www.ti.com/store/ti/en/p/product/?p=TPA3255EVM Specs: http://www.ti.com/product/TPA3255 Static protection bag is unopened. They run a single supply 18-53V DC so will function with anything from a laptop switcher to a nice SMPS (I used an SMPS600RS-48V from Connex in my build but many from "Mean Well" or ex-communication ones - since they often are 48VDC - will do nicely). This made-in-the-USA evaluation module provided for flexibility in terms of modes of connection and operation and is heavier, much larger physically (see last two images for the size - I was surprized), and has much better quality components than the Ch-fi boards using (hopefully at any rate) this module. Plenty of info about these on the net. You can run them with linear or SMPS supplies and they provide a step up in power and fidelity from the very listenable but fleapower TPA3116s, while also not blowing your budget (or chances with the significant other) like a set of Hypex modules might. Specs in terms of both power and fidelity are impressive and the sound is very good (I think easily better than the much smaller 125ASX Icepower modules I have in another amp). The module has inbuilt speaker protection which swayed my decision to go with it (detailed in the specs documents). I have another TPA3255 amplifier which I'm going to keep - and far too many things to go on with! I'd recommend these to anyone that doesn't necessarily have high-efficiency speakers but wants to try out (semi)DIY modern-day-digital without having to sell a kidney.
