Up for sale is a lovely pair of Proac Studio 2's.

This speaker started my love affair with Proac, from when I purchased my very first pair of brand new Studio 2's from Ceto Sandoval's Audio Excellence back in 1989 (later to become Audio Connection).

Since then I have owned another 3 x pairs of Studio 2's.

On each occasion I missed them following the sale and ended up buying another pair later down the track!

Of the Proacs, I love the Studio 2's in particular and anyone that has heard the Studio 2's will tell you how good they sound.

It is the more traditional British sounding speaker of its day, clinical, inefficent, accurate, more BBC Studio monitor-like when compared to the later more forward sounding Proac models.

This example is in excellent condition when you consider its age. The drivers also in excellent condition.

Only thing I would do to these is give the front grilles a bit of a clean.

This example has the gorgeous sounding focal tweeter, similar I think to the early Wilson Audios.

When I acquired these, I didn't think that the focal tweeters were original on the Studio 2's, but having scouted the net I've noticed photos of at least several overseas pairs that have the focal tweeter also. Not sure on the full history of the Studio 2's full production run though, as there isn't much info on the net on this model.

Anyway, superb sound for chump change if anyone is interested.

cheers

Jim

Same here.

There is someone that has a pair for sale on eBay reduced from $4,500 to $3,500.

The seller has been trying to offload them for a long time but unfortunately there has been a bit of negativity on here regarding this (re)seller and thus a risky purchase. Price is a little steep too.

Had an identical experience haha.

Still cheaper than a pair of BC3 however ?

I remember listening to a pair of Studio 2s at Trevor Lees’ shop in the 80s and I fell in love with them. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford them at the time. They were used at the Albert Hall in London in those days, they were that good.
