Cloth Ears Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Highly unusual. What sort of impedance to they run to? And the drivers and how old? Certainly looks like the drivers are intended to interlock together in this fashion - any chance of a picture with the back removed? Hm. Sydney. Might be a bit of a stretch to get them down here to Melbourne...
VanArn Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 The speaker array appears to use the Orthophase planar speakers that were manufactured by Ge Go in France. Gilbert Briggs mentioned this innovative speaker driver concept in his book " More About Loudspeakers", (1963). I do not know what the impedance of the individual drivers may be and I suspect it is quite low, however the units can be connected in series or series parallel to achieve a practical value. 1
t_mike Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I remember seeing these in a concert hall somewhere. Maybe the opera house?
Eagleeyes Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Now they would have taken pride of place on one of the wall of my design agency, absolutely wicked, good luck not that you will need it.
