I have a Nvidia shield with Plex and a external 1tb ssd with a mixture of mkv and iso files on them. In order to get these files into my Plex library do I have to import them by computer or can I import them using my Nvidia shield remote control via menu like in my Zidoo. Local content only.

I want to direct play 4k HDR content to a network device (LAN bandwidth is not a limiting factor). Which devices can handle direct play of x.265/HEVC (and DTS too)

I have a Fire stick 4K Max which can't handle x265/HEVC or DTS

Really, I've been blown away by how well Plex works via the Plex app on my new Sony XR75X90K..... It actually looks significantly better than my HTPC output via HDMI which was really unexpected. Not just Plex though also everything else streamed via an app on the TV also. I really wasn't expecting this. I guess TV's have come a fair way in the past 7 years since my previous 70" 4k Hisense.

Plex and Roon servers both reside on my Synology DS1621+. 4K content mostly works beautifully though really I'm quite happy with 1080p.  :)

I still run a Plex server but in the last 12-18 months I've mostly used Zidoo for local content.

As we were already on Apple TV the other night, when we wanted to watch something I thought I would just use Plex again.

5 mins in I remembered why we moved to Zidoo - audio sync was way out on Plex. Go back to Zidoo, perfect!

I love Plex, but the lip sync issues just push me back to Zidoo every time.

Interesting.... I wasn't even aware there was an alternative to Plex..... I guess I'm lucky though having none of the lip sync issues so no need to change as yet  :)

I'm not alone it seems -

Is this an Apple TV specific issue Marc? That may explain why I've not experienced it as I use via my Sony Android TV and Windows 11 PC's only.....

I think it could be, as it doesn't happen on one of the other TVs in the house with the Plex native app.

It's to do with having "match frame rate" enabled, according to that Reddit thread. I'll experiment.

Does the Zidoo speak Atmos properly?

Of course, and you just reminded me the other reason I moved to Zidoo way back when.

There really is a distinct hole in the market for someone who makes a box with the streaming app simplicity of the ATV with the Zidoo's "play anything locally" capabilities.

Agreed. The closest I've come to that is probably an Nvidia Shield running Emby.

But it's not as slick as the ATV UI.

Fantastic on my X80H and X85K. Playback of 4K content has been great, much better than all other devices I used to stream with. Google TV has been fantastic in general!

I'm now a fan yes..... Image quality via ANY streaming app on the TV significantly betters the HDMI inputs. I'm very impressed  :)
