thomaco Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) Item: Technics CD-4 Quadraphonic System (Model SS-2900D) Location: Brisbane (southside) Price: $375 (offers considered) Item Condition: Fair to Good Condition The electronics work and the cabinetry is in good condition. The turntable needs at least a belt. I'm not sure of the state of the stylus. Reason for selling: No Longer Required This was my father-in-law's system. He bought it new and used the electronics (with a CD player plugged-in) up until less than a year ago. He's now moved into a small unit and the system won't fit. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash or Paypal Extra Info: For a collector this is a great opportunity to pickup a quadraphonic system in fairly good condition. It can be used a stereo system, and as I said you can connect analogue sources to play CDs or any streaming source. It will up-mix 2 channel to 4 channel but don't know how well it does that. It can play both discrete and matrix quadraphonic recordings, as well as regular stereo LPs. It has headphone outputs for 2 or 4 channel listening. I have done a quick check and all four speakers appear to be working fine. The system includes a turntable (needs a belt), AM/FM Tuner and amplifier. The amp has a tape loop for recording or which can be another input (e.g. CD player). There is an input for an electric guitar or mic, if you want to play or sing along with what's playing. There is a collection of nineteen 4 channel LPs that you can have with the system. I have a scanned copy of the manual, it's a bit faded but readable. There is a good Akai GXC-325D cassette deck in the cabinet, which fits nicely and is on a slide out base for usage. It is advertised separately, but if you buy the Technics system and want the tape deck and it hasn't sold, you can have it with the system. Specs Front Speakers: 3-way Rear Speakers: 2-way Freq Range: 20 - 30,000 Hz Peak Output Power: 144 watts at 8 ohm Overall System Weight: 64 kg Feel free to ask any questions. Given the size and weight of the system, pickup is preferred but I can discuss shipping if you want to make the arrangements for its collection. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved. Edited February 11, 2020 by thomaco Forgot to add detail that it includes 4 channel recordings. 1 1
widescream Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) My parents still have a very similar Sanyo 4 channel system plus 4 speakers of similar layout and vintage, down to the non working turntable. Main difference is ours has a separate JVC external CD4 decoder, whereas yours appears to be built in, and we only have one CD4 record! An interesting proposition for fans of old school surround sound. Good luck with the sale. Edited February 11, 2020 by widescream
