I've had this album on repeat for the last few days.   So, so, so underrated.

Hi All,

This album arrived on the weekend and has had several spins since then, Medieval Femme, Fatima Al Qadiri, electronic interpretation of 14th - 15th Century Middle Eastern music, with some tracks singing poetry of various female Poets from that region.

New CHVRCHES - Screen Violence. Modern synth-pop at its best. Relentlessly catchy but just dark enough to stay interesting.

Liberal nods to the Cure and even featuring an appearance from the lipsticked dark lord himself :)

I saw this come up in an article and some tracks were used for test tracks. Realised I hadn't listened to it for over 5yrs, sooo put it on last night for a listen.

Great stuff. Some moody boudoir tracks too ☺️🤣

Hi All,

Going back nearly 20 years to an album that has had a few spins this week, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips

This album is great by itself however this pressing is just fantastic and has made me to appreciate it even more.

Japanese mono of Kind of Blue, I had many copies of it and I kept and old AUS pressing with an alternate cover and the 45 RPM MoFi which I liked them a lot However the sound stage and the details on the Japanese pressing takes you to another level.

Flamenco Sketches on the side 2 the moment when the alto saxophonist is playing, the cannonball, and then Bill Evans joins by playing the piano one key at a time is simply unreal, highly recommended.

I knew of this Muddy Waters album, but had never listened to it. I had a long week, my late father's birthday was midweek - who I inherited my penchant for the blues from, but my familiarity was mainly in individual song form rather than full albums.

This made my week way better ☺️🤘

Stunning album, so complete.

PS This thread has helped me sit and listen to entire albums recently. I'm more of playlist guy but setting aside the time (during this madness) to appreciate an artist's work that they put out there has been extremely enjoyable 🤘

This slipped under my radar for the the last 6 weeks which is odd for a Laura Marling fanboi like me. Multiple streams this week, now chasing the vinyl. Has a Stereolab, Ladytron...... even Curved Air vibe.

Yep great call.  This is a cracker.  It's on Qobuz at 44.1/24 and sounds pretty awesome imho.

In 2006 I was working at Encel Stereo with Ken Bennett, now of Steve Bennett HiFi fame (the man had/has a simply astonishing, encyclopaedic knowledge of hifi), aware of Steely Dan but not yet a fan, when this album came out.

Ken was so damn excited. I’d never even heard The Nightfly and SD was still sort of "old man" music to me and I just didn’t connect with any part of it.

Fast forward just 15 short years and I think the title track maybe surfaced on a Spotify playlist after Aja or something and, holy hell was I ever wrong! The whole thing slaps from go to whoa. It feels extremely carefully-crafted but never over-worked, self-aware but not self-conscious, dripping with cheese but never mawkish and the sound quality is amazing. The production is what you would expect from SD but somehow more modern. It doesn’t put a single foot wrong.

Hi All,

Hijack, Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders, a Sydney based band, many dark and edgy themed collection of songs of isolation and insecurity with just a glimmer of hope.

I have gone back a few decades for this, it has been played a few times this week and each time there seems to be something that is 'new' when I listen, Dead Can Dance : Aion

Hi All,

Not a specific album but an artist, Klaus Schulze, one of the early exponents in the 'Berlin School' of electronic music, originally played in Tangerine Dream, and parted after 2-3 years to play a variant of the Tangerine Dream style of music.

Awesome catalogue from Mr Schulze, his live albums are brilliant late night, darkened room stuff. These on cd decode wonderfully in Pro-logic.

Hi Billy, I have about 30 CDs of his, especially like the few that have Lisa Gerrard singing on them, and Rhinegold.

NOICE!!!! Agree the Gerrard comps are excellent. The early albums still hold their own. I always thought Kraus and Edgar could not exist in the same space for too long.
