POV Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 I've had this album on repeat for the last few days. So, so, so underrated. 6
Janjuggler Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Hi All, This album arrived on the weekend and has had several spins since then, Medieval Femme, Fatima Al Qadiri, electronic interpretation of 14th - 15th Century Middle Eastern music, with some tracks singing poetry of various female Poets from that region. 4
RankStranger Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 New CHVRCHES - Screen Violence. Modern synth-pop at its best. Relentlessly catchy but just dark enough to stay interesting. Liberal nods to the Cure and even featuring an appearance from the lipsticked dark lord himself 3

rowbo Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I saw this come up in an article and some tracks were used for test tracks. Realised I hadn't listened to it for over 5yrs, sooo put it on last night for a listen. Great stuff. Some moody boudoir tracks too 6
Janjuggler Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Hi All, Going back nearly 20 years to an album that has had a few spins this week, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips 5
hlov Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 This album is great by itself however this pressing is just fantastic and has made me to appreciate it even more. Japanese mono of Kind of Blue, I had many copies of it and I kept and old AUS pressing with an alternate cover and the 45 RPM MoFi which I liked them a lot However the sound stage and the details on the Japanese pressing takes you to another level. Flamenco Sketches on the side 2 the moment when the alto saxophonist is playing, the cannonball, and then Bill Evans joins by playing the piano one key at a time is simply unreal, highly recommended. 4
zenikoy Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 This slipped under my radar for the the last 6 weeks which is odd for a Laura Marling fanboi like me. Multiple streams this week, now chasing the vinyl. Has a Stereolab, Ladytron...... even Curved Air vibe. Animal by Lump (Laura Marling & Mike Lindsay) https://www.nme.com/reviews/album/lump-animal-review-laura-marling-mike-lindsay-3001021 4
rowbo Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I knew of this Muddy Waters album, but had never listened to it. I had a long week, my late father's birthday was midweek - who I inherited my penchant for the blues from, but my familiarity was mainly in individual song form rather than full albums. This made my week way better Stunning album, so complete. PS This thread has helped me sit and listen to entire albums recently. I'm more of playlist guy but setting aside the time (during this madness) to appreciate an artist's work that they put out there has been extremely enjoyable 8
Janjuggler Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Hi All, An oldie from the late 90s, early 00s from a band that were IMO very underrated in Australia but they were quite big in the US of A. Live, The Distance To Here https://www.discogs.com/Live-The-Distance-To-Here/release/10694957 3
POV Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 This masterpiece from 1991 is rocking my weekend! Sounds amazing in 192/24 on Qobuz. https://open.qobuz.com/album/0060255720790 4

FNQ Outcast Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 This is on very high rotation which, is unusual for me... Can't get enough of this!! London Grammar: Californian Soil 2 1
RankStranger Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 In 2006 I was working at Encel Stereo with Ken Bennett, now of Steve Bennett HiFi fame (the man had/has a simply astonishing, encyclopaedic knowledge of hifi), aware of Steely Dan but not yet a fan, when this album came out. Ken was so damn excited. I’d never even heard The Nightfly and SD was still sort of "old man" music to me and I just didn’t connect with any part of it. Fast forward just 15 short years and I think the title track maybe surfaced on a Spotify playlist after Aja or something and, holy hell was I ever wrong! The whole thing slaps from go to whoa. It feels extremely carefully-crafted but never over-worked, self-aware but not self-conscious, dripping with cheese but never mawkish and the sound quality is amazing. The production is what you would expect from SD but somehow more modern. It doesn’t put a single foot wrong. 4
Janjuggler Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 (edited) Hi All, Hijack, Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders, a Sydney based band, many dark and edgy themed collection of songs of isolation and insecurity with just a glimmer of hope. Edited November 11, 2021 by Janjuggler 3
Neurone Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I have gone back a few decades for this, it has been played a few times this week and each time there seems to be something that is 'new' when I listen, Dead Can Dance : Aion 3 1
Dazz Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Hi all CD that just arrived today. Korean singer/bass player called Luli Lee. Found her on YouTube. Love her bass playing, Dont understand a word she sings but like the music. Then again i also like the Japanese band "Perfume". Cheers Darren 1
Janjuggler Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Hi All, Not a specific album but an artist, Klaus Schulze, one of the early exponents in the 'Berlin School' of electronic music, originally played in Tangerine Dream, and parted after 2-3 years to play a variant of the Tangerine Dream style of music. 3 1
ZEN MISTER Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Awesome catalogue from Mr Schulze, his live albums are brilliant late night, darkened room stuff. These on cd decode wonderfully in Pro-logic. Red Billy 3

ZEN MISTER Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 NOICE!!!! Agree the Gerrard comps are excellent. The early albums still hold their own. I always thought Kraus and Edgar could not exist in the same space for too long. Red Billy 1
