lebowski Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 wow, a Sansui AU-717 (circa 1978) just sold for $710 on eBay Australia. These were $599 RRP in 1978
Guest Muon Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I was wondering what that would go for in the end, Sui's are going up! Lately anyway...
pete_mac Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 wow, a Sansui AU-717 (circa 1978) just sold for $710 on eBay Australia. These were $599 RRP in 1978 I'm not surprised to be honest... they rarely seem to come up for sale in Australia, and they were the top of the range model before the AU-719/819/919 was released a little later on. Very highly sought after amps!
skippy124 Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I blame pete and skip. I refuse to comment on that comment on the grounds that it might incriminate me......
audioguy Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Sorry that my bad. But most my sansui were imported from the State and Japan. 9090db, g22000, g33000, au20000 , ca2000, ca3000, and recent au-x111 mos. I got au 11000 second ca2000 and ca3000 and qrx 7001 ..... locally.
quadrodude Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) wow, a Sansui AU-717 (circa 1978) just sold for $710 on eBay Australia. These were $599 RRP in 1978 Yea...I was watching that auction too. These higher end vintage Sansui's are getting pretty pricey these days. Earlier this or last year a AU-9500 integrated went for $1750(!!) & a 9090 receiver for around $950...my jaw dropped on both occasions.... I myself picked up a very rare QA-7000 Quad Integrated in (..mostly) working but so-so condition for $400...probably too much, but I love the Sansui Quad stuff. Actually, seeing those prices has had me thinking (...off and on), about (..maybe) selling my AU-919 (to go towards my "G" Series fund). It might go north of a grand in the current market or even 2K on a good day, but who knows, these auctions can be very very unpredictable. For example...I noticed a pair of nice Yamaha NS-1000's in the completed listings on the 'bay recently were unsold for $1000...and yet I've seen several sell for over 2K after lots of frantic bidding...go figure..?? Ultimately...I'd really love one of the first series big "G" series receivers (with the analog meters...). Unfortunately, they tend to be very rare locally and when they turn up it's always a lower end entry/mid-range model G-3000/5000...or maybe occasionally G-6000/7000 (..there's a G-6000 on Melbourne Gumtree now..$850..ouch!!). Where are all the Aussie G-8000/9000's or even G-7500's??.... Edited October 27, 2011 by quadrodude

There was one listed a few months ago but it had issues and the seller removed the listing. I'd imagine that a working unit in near immaculate condition would have to sell for well north of $1k. There seem to be hardly any of the big 'G' series amps for sale in Australia. A bloke had a big batch of huge receivers for sale 6-9 months ago, including a Pioneer SX-1980 and a G-33000. I think they were priced at $2-3k each and took a long time to sell. Most people seem to grab the big 'G's from the USA. A bloke on audiokarma (kevzep from NZ) has done just this, as Sansui stuff is even rarer over there.

Kevzep was the guy who bought the $1750 AU-9500 from OZ...he imported it to New Zealand, used it for a bit and then sold it after he imported and fixed up a G-9000. He then subsequently brought in a G-22000 from the US...this must have cost several thousand dollars for postage alone..!! The whole thing is documented in several threads on audiokarma.
