I listen to dubstep so bass emphasis is very important, though I actually really like listening to dubstep on the T1.

There is the kicker.

People think it's all about the bass. But so much EDM has a lot to like in the other frequencies. So when it comes to higher end cans, maybe something fairly nuetral with a flat, not necessarily boosted, low end is perfect. Something that extends nicely to 20hz.

Just a thought!

I have the TH-X00 PH which are very bassy and I actually enjoy my bassy music on the T1 gen 2  just as much if not more. The original T1 is a little bright and since I listen at loud volumes it feels like my eyes are going to explode.

Yeah, see.

First, measure how low you listen. Even if it's just a DB Meter on your phone, place on table, and press a cup down on it to seal.

Don't listen over 85db please. Older you will regret the tinnitus, 100% regret incoming.

So you want closed and portable? Or just closed?

I'll do that now, I started wearing earplugs to the club / festivals because I spend the majority of the time in front of the speakers.

I would like closed and portable, maybe the Focal Stellias would be a decent option too. I am in love with the classy look they have.

When I put both ear cups around the bottom of my phone where the mic is, I'm getting a reading of about 82 - 92. It's constantly jumping up and down. I'm assuming that my listening level is actually higher than this reading?

Edit: Just turned down the volume and getting a more consistent 82-85.

Sustained over 85db is damaging. The higher it goes, the less time at that volume it takes to cause *permanent damage*. So if you can try keep it consistent under 85db.

Stellia is very expensive though!

Elegia is $499, have you tried those? 85% of the way to the Stellia at 1/7th the price....

Focals are very dynamic and punchy, might suit you. They may need a slight Bass EQ to be ideal.

Cascade is bassy.

T5P Gen 2 is a closed version of the T1. Were on super special recently for $1000. Excellent headphone.

Missed out on a pair of T5P for $199 and then again for $299, was gutted haha.

It's the same as the T1 but closed back. The Gen 1 were a bit of a miss, but everyone pretty impressed by Gen 2.

Hence wouldn't bother with any of the Gen 1 units, T1 or T5P.
