Interesting. I definitely felt like the LCD had way more space than the Aeons. I guess it comes down to ear shape and whatnot.

My ears are a weird shape, so I did this about a year ago.

At the top I have Audeze dimensions - 67mm x 50mm. I too felt they fit better on my head with my ears.

What cable is in them; it’s not the Kimber they come with?

Focal have done a really good job improving on the Utopia 1.0. The 2.0 has more body and attack in the bass and the treble is less forward and rolled off but with only a very slight loss in the detail.. The overall balance with the bass/mids and highs is probably the biggest improvement for me as I don’t do EQ. I still prefer the upper mids and highs in the D8000 as it is less in my ear and ‘sweeter’ for lack of a better description. I went back home and listened to my HD800s and for me they were still not enough light and day for me to jump up.. Mainly listen to jazz and classical and for me the HD800s soundstage still wins and not sure I am prepared to spend 7k for the new Utopias. For classic rock and 80s pop the Utopia 2.0 wins but I would probably be happy with the D8000 at 4k even though overall it is less revealing. The Utopia 1.0 is tempting at 3.5k but once you hear the improvement in the 2.0 I am prepared to wait for the 2.0 to drop in 1-2 years time.

Quite a  long time coming

Interesting discussion. I note from about 10mins onwards in the above video, the frequency response curves for the Focal Utopia, and Sennheiser HD800 shows a 0-10 dB bump from 2-5KHz. This probably explains the brighter top end and relatively leaner mids in their sound signatures or perhaps analytical clinical sound is a better description ( I noticed more on the HD800, than Utopias), compared with my Sennheiser HD650 for instance (freq response below). I prefer richer fuller mids and smoother/non-fatiguing tops, even if it comes with slightly higher THD and less absolute resolution.

First Bathys measurement (ANC mode). Follows Harman curve well apart from one big weird dip

Their iOS and Android app lets you adjust bass and treble to taste, which is essential

That dip is called flava

According to Resolve who was at the Focal factory talking to the designers, this was not deliberate. Its an accidental effect of ANC.

Makes sense because you don't see this dip anywhere in the Focal lineup. Even the new Utopia 2022.

Hi all

Any thoughts on the specific areas Stellia outperforms Celestee? I’m a long time Utopia owner and very impressed by Celestee.
Cheers

Looking at a current (March 23) promo by Addicted to Audio for various "B-STOCK" Focal Headphones. No explanation re what "B-Stock" is ? Selling Elegia's for $399 reduced from $1399 (??).....I thought the Elegia was a superceded model.

I tried hard to see what B Stock meant when I bought Utopia. Couldn’t find anything. Certainly the headphones were spotless. Slight damage on the case? $4999 Newtopia is VERY tempting.

Probably a quality control "blemish".........big savings........wonder too how many "b-stock" they have........not many I bet!

Nope.

They did this couple years back. Its all just new stock they have.

Utopia and Stellia B Stick used to be $3000 for quite a while, screws upresale for the full price buyers too.
