Have I read your website correctly - one large floorstand model and one standmount model, with nothing in between?

I'm sure that I recall others.

Could you PM me the respective prices, please.

Thanks.

There was also an Ella Mk2 model, which is a floor stander model. Link to StereoNet article below. This is the model I have, fantastic speaker.

Hi brad, working on the new Ellas MKIII at the moment. It is a 3 way floor-stander, which sits in between the Nina's and the Dukes.

Hi Nick,

Are you coming up to Sydney for the Hifi show in April? It would be great to hear some of your speakers.

Hi mate, unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this year. By the way, which model are you interested in listening to?

DUKEs Mk11 Cross the Border into WA !

Long story short.....They sound Absolutely Fantastic and big shout-out to Nick Hulgich for all his help and advice in getting to this point.

After joining Stereonet back in 2019, I got interested in buying an Australian designed/made speaker, and based on reviews contacted Nick in 2021 at Hulgich Audio for advice etc and was initially offered a (2018) ex demo Nina, but not brave enough to purchase without listening, and Covid meant travel from WA was impossible.............but forward a few months and up pops these same speakers listed by WA stereonet member....Listened and purchase straightaway ! with Nick transferring new Warranty !

I purchased Hulgich FTM speaker cables and powered the Ninas with Michi X3s1 and Node2i and for the last couple of years had really good music listening experience.

Having enjoyed the Hulgich sound and recently receiving unexpected influx of funds, I decided to venture into a Floor stander model , initially thinking of ELLA Mk111, but was easily persuaded into the DUKE Mk11.

The decision was full of risk due to small size of Bedroom listening space at 4x4mtrs, and Freight concerns, but with great advice re placement and Solid packing cases the DUKES were installed in July this year. I upgraded the streamer to Lumin P1 and overall the system sounds Wonderful. ( have of course retained the Ninas in another listening room )

Again many thanks to Nick for all his help and advice to get me to this point...and at 70yrs of age I think this system will see me out with a very big smile on my face !

I have no doubt the Duke's are sounding great with your system.
Big jump from the Node2i to the Lumin P1 I guess

For those who haven't come across my "evil springs system" thread, I had Nick's Nina Statement speakers recently and have just published a review on them.

(On page 33)

Worthwhile reading my comments, and also those of my listening panel who evaluated them.

Great review Clive. Absolutely concur with your conclusion. I have never found my Nina’s wanting and for my room are the perfect fit. Everyone who hears them never fail to be impressed. Nick is a real talent. A demo will not disappoint .

It is quite a lengthy review, but l had a lot to say ! 😉

I am a firm fan of top locally manufactured hifi products.

I have for the money the best Turntable combo with the Helix One,  the Melody SP1 tube amplifier,  into the Hulgich speakers.

So a complete whole Aussie system right there! :thumb:

Ella MKIII optioned in Tasmanian Blackwood real wood veneer and heavy duty thick outriggers so no top nuts required. I had ETI-Research Kryo Silver binding posts fitted that I had for another project.

Outriggers sitting on Stack Audio Euva 70's and granite baseplates.

Speakers are very transparent and detailed along with the normal Hulgich Audio house sound.

Room is 5.6m x 7.8m with galley kitchen behind sitting area & dining area & entrance to oneside. Position starting points are Ellas 1m from acoustic panels, 2.6m Tw to Tw & 2.85 to listening position.

Wanted to share my setup as the newest member of the Hulgich family. Huge thanks to Nick @Hulgich Audio for his product and excellent service and ongoing support.

Very happy with the setup. Maybe when there’s time I’ll add room acoustics but they do sound excellent as is.

My source is Tidal through roon and running off the Teac UD701 + CG10 clock. I have 2x Benchmark AHB2 vertically bi amped. The foam from the amps came in handy to lift my cables from the robot vacuum lol.

G'day all,

I have also just joined the Hulgich family 🙂

I was lucky enough to buy a second hand pair of Duke Mk I's from Len Wallis Audio recently. I have been very impressed with the service and support provided by Len and his staff.

I have also been very impressed with Nick Hulgich who has been in touch with me and helped with speaker placement. I didn't expect this sort of great service when buying second hand!

I have now connected them to my main system comprising PS Audio GainCell DAC Pre-amp, PS Audio M1200 monoblocks, PS Audio PerfectWave CD player and Bluesound N130 streamer. They replace a pair of Ascension Artisan 1093SQL speakers. The Dukes have a much wider soundstage and better stereo imaging but they do seem to need a bit of power to make them perform well. They also have great room 'presence' and am very happy with my purchase.

I haven't done any direct A-B listening between the Dukes and Artisans yet but will post again if I get time to do this comparison.

Regards

John

I have been trialling the Hulgich Nina's, with a Lyrebird valve integrated amplifier - which are coincidentally both made in South Australia and have just put up a post on a listening panel's impressions on my evil Springs thread.

The results are well worth sharing, for others to hear more about them. 🙂

I seem to be having issues with the link going to the beginning of the thread so have pasted the following below:

So l mentioned recently, that l would be trialling the Hulgich Nina's with the Lyrebird amplifier and giving my impressions.

I set them up last week, and have been putting in some solid hours putting them through their paces with a lot of favourite tracks - both streaming and vinyl.

I have had to check myself, that I'm really hearing what to me is an uncannily open, natural crystal clear soundstage and bass that has no right to be reproduced from such small enclosures!

image.thumb.png.f44ddc6a3597da1c2cad05bd7f7474c2.png

So thought it best to have my impressions validated, by some trusted ears and as a bonus - good friends, illusion, ZEN MISTER and Bill Lee's who is a senior convenor with the Melbourne Audio club.

ZEN is currently off-line from Stereonet so he just sent me his thoughts from this afternoon as follows:

ZEN MISTER:

"Having had the opportunity to listen to the newish Aussie made 'LYREBIRD' valve-blessed amp feeding a pair of the distinctive HULGICH ' NINA' stand mounts, it again raised the question, why would you need to import gear. These components are locally designed, manufactured, and voiced to suit the educated ear . They are not for the budget restricted listener, but more for the long term investment in music enjoyment . For my ears, timbre of voice/instruments quite real, dynamic range excellent ( and you can push these things very hard), but also capable of delicacy and tangible 'space'.

Particularly noted was the rendition of one of my favourite test tracks. The attack, decay and rich harmonics present on the first 2 tracks was exactly as it should be heard .

( Axel Schultheiss : On Wings / Ozella OZ 020 CD)."

And this was Bill's impressions:

"l am astounded how open and clean that the sound is!
The imaging is like nothing I've ever heard before, and interplay between the two channels is insane - with micro detail and nuances popping out .
Speakers totally disappeared  and amount of bass is crazy!
It is probably the best I've ever heard Clive's system sounding, the Nina's are spectacular speakers and not limited to the Bookshelf category either but of any I've listened to !
The Lyrebird is gorgeous to look at, and it's clarity, dynamics and imaging it provides is just jaw dropping! For the money, a bargain!!"

So there we have it, matches in heaven together from two very talented designers and manufacturers in @Hulgich Audio and Lyrebird via @Grizzly

But don't just take our word on it, come and have a listen for  yourself if in Melbourne.

Happy to demo them over a quality coffee or wine, and l can guarantee that you will be very surprised - in a good way ! 🙂
