Analogueage Posted February 5 Posted February 5 @andyr insurance is not a fail safe and just experience on my part. Your package looks like it’s within Aus Post limits even though they are sometimes frustrating. 1

At the very best, it can't be delivered until Friday - which is the 5th working day after dropping it off at my local PO. Andy So basically you are winging for no reason 1

However, we've moved on one step - although it's still in Adelaide: Given it's moved from Adelaide airport to another place in Adelaide ... maybe the last leg to Darwin really is by road? 1 1
agisthos Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I have been seeing Aus Post/ Startrack packages just sit in depot's for up to a week. So the minimum insurance trick is one I will try!
ENIGMA Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I'm curious. I get as a consumer looking in at times these items don't quite go as intended and at times may have gone bad. Can you imaging the people in Nth Qld right now with a major cut to their transport feeding in - their parcel times are going to be affected. Aust is huge, does not have the infrastructure like Europe for example with some of the worst roads on the planet. How do you think this stuff gets around. Has anyone here actually been in a logistics facility and seen just how many items are moved everyday? 1
frankn Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I use Australia Post all the time, great service. I think they monitor pages like this and see who whinges the most and deliberately target them. 2 2

agisthos Posted February 7 Posted February 7 It seems to be some delays shipping anything to Adelaide right now. But the worst recently was Aramex which took 3 weeks to go from Melb to Adel.
SonicArt Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I sent 52kg in 3 boxes to Adelaide 2 Fridays ago, arrived last Tuesday. 4 days.... 2

On 07/02/2025 at 10:08 PM, frankn said: go ask someone in Australia Post. If I thought I could get a straight (ie. constructive & factual) answer ... I probably would. My point is basically ... it seems to me that if you have a nominal "expectation" to deliver within 3-6 days, you don't waste several of those days, first up, by allowing the parcel to sit at a depot. Instead ... you keep it travelling along then, when it's arrived at the final depot, you can make a decision to delay it, if it's actually been transported quicker than expected and you don't want to meet the minimum expectation. In any case, here's the current status: Note that at Regency Park, it was processed - and departed - within two hours! However, as that was 3 1/2 days ago, it would seem that @metal beatis indeed correct ... and it was loaded onto a camel train for the final journey to Darwin! Note: they have exceeded their 6 day estimate! Edited February 9 by andyr

However, you are probably correct about monitoring these threads and putting the whingers at the bottom of the pile in the various depots. The stronger possibility though is just that they just don't give a schiit. 1
