W47ty Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Hi, Looking for some recommendations on turntable isolation feet. I am looking to "tweak" a Thorens 150mk2 and 165mk2. I am not sure I am ready to layout $300 upwards for a set of four. I am building a couple of new plinths. One in Walnut and the other in Camphor Laurel so they do need to be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. Don't really mind the material they are made for as long as they do the job. appreciate help and advice in advance. cheers Chris
Hydrology Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Probably just out of your price range (and you seem unsure of spending in the first place) but Ive had great success recommending Nordost Sort Kones to friends and clients. Alternatively something like the IsoAcoustics Orea range. 1
Upgrayed Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 This product is very good, and inexpensive , I have them under every box. http://brightstaraudio.com/ Only buy from here as the ones on Amazon are sorbothane, fake copy, do not work. 2
W47ty Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 @Hydrology thanks mate. no, not unsure of spending in the first place. I am unsure of the sense in spending over $300 on feet. I get the issue of isolation but IMHO there is a diminishing return when I am not building a thoroughly acoustically treated environment. I do however thoroughly appreciate you recommendation and will check them out. thank you. @deblur Thanks mate. Appreciate the advice on the fake sorbothane from Amazon. cheers chris
pond44 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Saw someone ask this question today and the suggestion was "Whites Anti Vibration Squares" aisle 13? At Bunnings. I'm looking tomorrow. 1
Yardbird Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 PPL have been debating IKEA bamboo chopping blocks. Might be worth a start there too? Also IsoAcoustics have been on sale lately. 1
W47ty Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Thanks everyone for the suggestions. after some research and wallet digging I think the isoacoustic Gaia III will do the trick. cheers chris
Guest Mr Thorens Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 At a quite low cost the Vibrapods I bought from Decibel work a treat. I have a 30kg SP10mkii sitting on them and they definitely work and isolate well. Cost me $49 shipped.
W47ty Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 thanks @Mr Thorens Given your name I my pick your brains some more further down the line
Greg Orr Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 I use these https://www.selby.com.au/brands/isoacoustics/isoacoustics-orea-bronze-component-isolator-single.html. there terrific well built and heavy duty really make a difference. 1

Put three of those tiny stick on silicone buttons as feet. Edited July 3, 2020 by Ratbob Add info 1
Stump Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Consider a piece of Granite to go with your feet.. http://www.graniteisolator.com/ 1
t_mike Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 The best recommendation I can make is make sure you have a rock solid platform to place the table on, and that it is out of firing range of the speakers, including any rear ports. Once this is done successfully, any other vibration reduction action is menial at best, given it's a bandaide on your elbow for a sore knee. 1
rodders3 Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 I went the Isoacoustic route after seeing @evil c use them on his Linn. Cost about $270 for three but made a significant difference. Also easiest upgrade ever - lift player, place feet - done! 4 1

W47ty Posted July 9, 2020 Author Posted July 9, 2020 Thanks all. I ended up spending the money and getting the Isoacoustic Gaia III. Couldn't be happier. fitted to the new plinth they really tighten things up. It sounds amazing. Excuse the poor quality photo ..... 2
