muon* Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 So this is the correct row to connect to, and you need that switch for i2s set to on. 2
MattyW Posted August 12, 2023 Author Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) Fantastic outcome Ian. So glad this worked out for you Edited August 12, 2023 by MattyW 1
muon* Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Replaced the BC 22uf caps around the DAC chips with Nichicon KA, only caps that fit that lead spacing. Also got the better receiver board in the mail and fitted that and hooked up with some silver plated wire. New receiver board seems better.

I'm really happy with mine, it is by far the most naturalistic sounding of all my dacs. The most where I close my eyes and feel like the band is in the room with me: not coming through a PA system or a great studio recording, or front row at a concert-literally right there. The only thing that lets mine down is lazy bass. I'd love an upgrade that could tighten up the bass without messing with the other dynamics and textures. What, out of the mods you've done, do you believe to yield noticeable improvements?

The AN standard and Keisai for the power to the output stage made a very noticeable difference, the 100uf KA's around the DAC chips not as much but still noticeable, and the i2s connection a noticeable improvement in definition, all different changes but still improvements. 1 1
muon* Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Had an ETI HDMI cable from PC to monitor so swapped that in. Straight away definitely more solid sounding than the cheap jbhifi one. 3
