betty boop Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Its good to see another geared mount on the market and this looks better than the peerless precision mount i myself have used for some years that is very precise in aligning the projector to screen. the strong looks like adds horizontal movement (yaw) as well that the peerless can do but without precision - the peerless has its precision is in two axis only with pitch and roll... the strong brings precisions adjustment to Yaw as well. ' it also has click detents to adjust which i think is a step further than the peerless as well. though the strong is a quite heavy mount in itself and looks like has slightly less weight capacity though would still take heavy large projectors like JVC 4k machines... I think only a couple of sellers in au and expensive at nearly $400 which is about what the peerless goes for as rrp though most folks can get the peerless from us for nearly half that with quick shipping...doesnt look like anyone shipping the strong from the us as its installer only sold there by looks.... https://www.snapav.com/shop/en/snapav/mounts/strong-trade%3B-universal-fine-adjust-projector-mount-for-projectors-up-to-50lbs? a user review i saw on avs on the strong, and also below a chintzy us youtube that probably runs through it pretty well. just grin and bare it through the cheesy bits a bit of a run down review courtesy of asharma on avs, Quote Hi folks...I should have started the last few posts by mentioning I installed this new mount for my NX 7 recently...It’s the Strong SM-PROJ-XL-BLK. I was using the Peerless mount and just didn’t feel right that a $100 mount was holding up my $10,000 projector...Also rotational micro adjustments on the Peerless don’t exist...Here’s a brief review of the Strong mount... Pros Micro adjustments for vertical, horizontal and rotation are a piece of cake and they really are MICRO adjustments. As mentioned the Peerless doesn’t have a rotational micro adjustment... Nice big dials for micro adjustments, no tweaking with a small screw driver Nice casing to hide the ceiling mount plate and micro adjustment dials so you don’t see all the mounting screws etc It’s a universal mount so will fit several projectors and is very very solid...Far more solid than the Peerless mount IMO The base plate that slides into the ceiling mount is a sled mechanism giving you a few inches of throw adjustment without having to uninstall the ceiling mount and reinstall. The projector can slide back and forth a few inches (Perhaps 2 inches) in the sled to fine tune your throw...This is a big benefit to have this versatility Cons Given its a universal mount, it uses Spyder arms instead of a custom plate like the Chief mount...this introduces some slight “wobble” if you physically rock the projector back and forth...It’s not an issue as the mount is still built like a tank and no one should be physically rocking the projector back and forth but wanted to mention it...it’s very very solid... All in all, I’m very pleased with the upgrade, micro adjustments and the sled are the big benefits... So we now have a few mount options: Peerless, Chief, Crimson, and Strong...Watch the video...YMMV... PS I have to say the weight of the projector makes it difficult for a 1 man install, especially for this not so big Or strong, old guy I seem to always need help hoisting the projector into the mount...The rest is a 1 man show... 4
oztheatre Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Thanks for posting this Al as I got these in stock the other day actually. It's a very good mount. The peerless is still 180 USD plus gst (close to 300 aud) so not far off the strong mount which has that extra feature and seems more sturdy too. The rrp on this mount is $480 so not cheap by any stretch, but I think this is going to be about 330 in my packages anyway. Good option to have either way. 1

Good option to have either way. good to see more local sold options OZ especially from your self and that feel its a very good thing. also good to hear there isnt much in it price wise between the two buying locally . As much as i like the peerless and done me well over the years, from start of my projector journey and across a few projectors since, its no denying the strong looks a far more capable design. especially thrown in your package I think be a no brainer for anyone buying to just get the strong
mrpato Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Sorry to revive such an old thread. I've recently jumped back onto Projectors and acquired the JVC N7 using the Strong mount. I do notice a bit of sag on those spider legs and it does wobble a bit when nudged. Is anyone using this mount on the JVCs? Just want to make sure it holds the projector over time as the weight limit is very close to the Strong mount's capacity.
