hugo_wilco Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Hi guys After decades of only vinyl use I ended up getting a NAIM NDX2 streamer. I am an absolute Luddite and have no idea about tech. Just started a Tidal trial and seem to have it hooked up via the Naim app. It actually sounds bloody marvellous straight from the box. I would love some help. If anyone is in Melbourne and is adept with streaming and knows or uses Naim can you give me a PM.
david j Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I bet it sounds great was looking at it when you had it listed 1
gillmaverick Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Hi Hugo , Mate Naim App is C***......I had a NAP172 and was unable to use Tidal due to Naim App very user unfriendly. Spotify works OK though. Honestly never used Tidal on Naim App It's that bad. I would recommend making playlists on actual tidal App and than They will show up in Naim App. But other than that Naim Streamers do sound good....
BugPowderDust Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 (edited) It looks like it’s roon ready. I’d start a trial of roon and see how you get on. www.roonlabs.com Edited July 24, 2020 by recur 1

Darren69 Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 ROON through Naim is sublime, used it through the Naim app when I had the Uniti Core which was an awesome device. I didnt have any probs with that app. But as you might be suggesting, a PM and maybe a visit in these scary times...its just hard to know what someone is describing when it comes to computer stuff without sitting there beside them... Yes, great stuff, your records will collect dust once you listen through Tidal Hi Fi/ROON etc. One of the best steps I have taken and it took me a long time too. 1
BugPowderDust Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 If you PM me, I’ll set up a Remote Desktop session for you to set you up over Zoom. Before you do that though, Sign up for a free trial of a Roon and download it. 8
hugo_wilco Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 A big shoutout to @recur Wow. We have come a long way. To be able to use Zoom and have someone set you up remotely in real time and less than hour is incredible! I’ve been a member of Sna for a decade and I have to say, that this is what it’s all about. @recur I can’t thank you enough for all your time help and patience. For so long I have been too scared to go digital and stream as I have no idea what to do. Roon is incredible and this vinyl tragic has now come of age. That wine is on the way mate 12 2
BugPowderDust Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 No problems mate. It’s always good to help a fellow out and get them on the good oil. Also, just as a heads up, I’ve set up-sampling to DSD on all your streaming. Some people like it, some don’t. If it sounds good to your ears, all good. i can always turn it off later. have a great listening weekend 4
Tony B Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Great outcome. Once you get your head around Roon you will listen to so much more new music than ever before.. Make sure you enable Roon Radio.
CD Boy Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 For the record Tidal via the Naim app is very easy and intuitive to use. I use it every day without any issues. 1

hugo_wilco Posted August 3, 2020 Author Posted August 3, 2020 Sounds great to me @Bunno77 I think it's the Naim more than anything else. I now see why people get hooked on Naim gear. Sounds like good vinyl but MM not MC. 2
Bunno77 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) Naim has always impressed me. Good to hear, thanks It is a decent step up to the 555 too Edited August 3, 2020 by Bunno77 addition

Hi mate love Naim gear use the superline/supercap combo for phono , i am getting a little lazy and it would be good to have a streaming system that does not disappoint , how does your ndx 2 compare to your vinyl experience? Still going to collect that vinyl though, i think we can live in a digital and Analogue world!!! 2
