Steve Carell.......cant stand the guy, it is pleasing to say in this instance he wasn't too bad.

The film starts off in Phil and Claire Forester's house, kids jumping on the bed, them making breakfast, toys and clothes everywhere. Phil and Claire have a "boring" life which revolves around their kids and their work. Once a week, Phil and Claire get a babysitter and have "date night" where they go to a local restaurant in the burbs, eat the same thing and pick fun at others doing pretty much the same thing. I was just about ready to turn it off at this point.

Anyhow, next date night comes, Claire dresses up and Phil decides to take them into the city for dinner at the latest trendy eatery. They cant get a table, fake their names and nab a reservation for someone else. That someone else happen to be black mailing a bad guy, they get mistaken and that's when the fun begins.

Its a pretty thin plot but it works. Carell's annoying manerisms actually work rather well and Tina Fey who plays Claire isn't half bad either. There are some pretty funny bits if you don't take it too seriously and some funny cameos that work pretty well. The car chase is bollocks, but the black dude is pretty funny.

This is what I refer to as "good B grade", not serious at anything (be it comedy or drama), but not poorly put together either. Its a bit like Mr and Mrs Smith filmed in a Wild Hogs like manner. It drags on a bit at the end, but is worth watching if you just want something light and cheerful

I was really disappointed with this movie. No chemistry between them. The whole thing just didn't click. Felt like watching a series of bad takes. 90 minutes of my life I wont get back.
