Any Kodi users for video out in SNA audio land

If so I wouldn't mind setting up a Kodi thread for like minded souls stuck in ISO.

I have been using it for over 3 years now so have some experience.   Set up Gaia over the weekend with some Debrids and Premiumize.

So far so good.

Let me know if you want to play.

Is that seat taken?

I've been using KODI for about 7 years.  I have 3x HTPC"s and this is a great platform.  I used to stream but found that very buggy, and also set upo a couple of old school gaming emulators but discarded that because I don't have the time.  I've never tried the TV side of it.

I have friends who run things like PLEX and a NAS.  What works for me is an external HDD with content on that, and I just use KODI for movies and TV shows - clean and simple.  I can transfer content between all NUC's because they're on the same home network.

I just use a $10 Windows Media remote off eBay.  A mate wrote a script to convert the Windows green button into a hard reset, best thing ever!

Hi Kaynin,

That is obviously a build you are using.   I am a very KISS principle man with Kodi.  I just run entirely bare bones.   Nuc with latest Kodi Leia 18.7 on LibreElec.      Exudus Redux plus now running Gaia with Real-Debrid, Premiumize and Trakt.

The Gaia with RD, P and T is working very well.   Alot to work through manually in the settings, or just select the Wizard set up.   I have found keeping URLResolver and ResolverURL up to date are the key to success.

If anyone is using Gaia drop me a PM please.   Still getting my head around it.

I have added this link to folks thinking about using Gaia.  Yes the guy is 'interesting' but his vlog on the complete guide to the Setting in Gaia is pretty informative.   Cleared up alot of questions.     Certainly Gaia streets ahead of my old Exodus Redux that seems to have fallen off the perch.

I have been using Gaia these past couple of days and it is going well.    The Cached links on offer from Realdebrid and Premiumize work a treat.

The update from LibreElec to the new Kodi Leia 18.8 also working smoothly.

Another reasonably happy Kodi user here. Running on a discard desktop with a 1050Ti to keep up with 4K.

No idea on any of the streaming services though, my Kodi instance just NFS mounts the big media shares.

Running KODI for long long time on various devices and now running on shield TV. Best out there for local content and never liked anything else like plex or windows media server, etc.

I currently run Kodi via NVidia Shield too, primarily for streaming vids from my NAS (over Wifi).

I don't do anything special with it, just keep it simple with a nice skin for easy navigation. Love my NVidia Shield/Kodi combo

Running Gaia on kodi is the best thing I have done.    Works a treat with their Cached Streams Implementation.
System is running problem free (touch wood) since I set Gaia up.

Well worth giving it a go.

Dumb question perhaps, but what is Gaia?

Also, any step by steps for getting Bitstream out of Kodi/Sheild please?

Hi, been using a Vero4k for about 18months. Real debrid account access through Seren addon. So far this has work seamlessly. Plus also use Aussie addon catch up tv and the NRL addon. The old topfield  only job is to record the news every night.

LOL perhaps you misunderstood.... Kaynin is running it much more "bare bones" than you.

It's a Kodi add on, which provides a front end for some other tools/addons like premiumize and orion.

Where are you stuck?    If you've enabled audiopassthrough... then that should be all there is to it.

If you're getting stuttery sound, then there's a known issue for that (but it sounds like you just can't get it work at all).

I'm more Plex these days.... but I've been around since it was Xbox Media Player (on an Xbox).   Edit:  Wow, I just checked.... nearly 20 years.   <headspin>

I've burned a lot of hours around all the TV integration projects over the years, including MythTV and integration into XBMC/Kodi.

I finally got all excited late last year as the TV support on XBMC/Plex is getting quite mature .... and bought a network TV tuner.

... but it gets zero use, as there's nothing on.  Granted there was nothing on 10 years ago either.... but these days it's much worse.

I just can't Stomach FTA.  Adverts drive me insane.   For the assorted issues Kodi presents I am happy to persevere with it.

By the time I pay for Real Debrid, Premiumize and Alldebrid it is rare I can't find a TV show I want to watch.   Costs me $25 per month for those 3.   I'm not a big movie fan, just TV shows.    If I struggle to get what I want on Kodi I just go to TPB and grab a torrent.    My Plasma is good for a max of 720p so that's all I aim for.

If I was to pay for Netflix, Disney, Prime, Stan, Amazon etc, etc  i would well past $25 per month.

I use the attached settings for pass through. It's important to use WASAPI.

Hi Cazzesman,

I used Real Debrid with Exodus. Kodi started downloading a lot of background data even when I wasn't streaming.....it was downloading about 200 gig of data even when idle. Have you had any problems like that?

Not that I am aware.  I have unlimited so never notice my usage.

Purchased a Vero 4K+ media player from a SNA member this week.

https://osmc.tv/vero/

Spent the day setting it up.   It comes preinstalled with Kodi, so just some tweaks there and installing Gaia over the top.

Now that I have gone from 720p Plasma to 4K LG Oled I can stream the 1080p shows from Vero to LG.   I am now using the Kodi Whitelist to set up the correct resolution and fps, per incoming show.    Most are either coming in at 25 or 23.98fps it seems.

https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/howto-guide-to-the-kodi-whitelist-function-and-related-settings/83919

I now do the passthrough for both Audio and Video to the LG, and let that handle all the up-scaling etc.     1080p shows on the LG look stunning.   Audio is mostly Dolby so the Audio quality is terrific through the Kii 3's.

The Vero 4K+ is an amazing bit of kit and pretty cheap even at RRP.

Hi all, I have been using Kodi for a few years running on a HTPC with media on a DIY NAS. The HTPC is running on a Lubuntu base (Linux) with AMD RX580 vga card 4K and TV tuner (don't use that much) the sound card is a  Asus STX 2 7.1 card with Burson Opamps V6 Vivid (geez they aren't cheap) and while it took me sometime to get setup we use it a fair bit both music and moves. I have managed to get Netflix running but also have a Panasonic UB900 for that. Music sounds great but I love my vinyl records better.

Using Aeon Nox: SiLVO as the skin with Samsung 75 inch TV and Tube amps setup.

Vero 4+ vs Oppo 105D.    I have both units and they are both connected to my LG OLED CX via HDMI.

I acquired a 720p American TV show the other day and put episodes 1-3 onto a USB stick.   I plugged it into the Oppo.     The image was okay but at times it was juddery during movement scenes.

Next day I put the stick into the Vero to watch episode 2 of the same show and it was a real Wow moment.    The image was amazing and the judder was completely gone.     I played episode 1 through the Vero and it was perfect.     On the Vero you can check the video meta data and it was showing it was a true 720p version running at 23.98 fps.

I checked again on the Oppo and it was running the show at 24 fps.

Any thoughts on why the difference or is it just the newer tech in the Vero 4+ that is now superior to the older 105D?
