blueboysos Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 (edited) I have this AV AMP. It does 9.2 channel processing out of the box but can do 11.2 with an external amp. What I want to do is buy an AMP for my LCR front stage and utilize the DENON for surrounds and heights. Is this possible? How? Or is the external amp only for the extra height speakers. My goal is to run a 7.2.4 setup but external amp to drive the front stage instead of the heights. Edited August 20, 2020 by blueboysos
Huntsman Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 (edited) Yes, should be easy to do. Just connect the external amp to the L, C, R pre-outs. Then set the configuration and assign the speaker outs and preouts in the Amp Assign section. Run test tones to ensure everything works, then rerun the Audyssey setup. I have an older Denon AV_4810 and use the "Free Assign mode" to enable use of external amps for front L & R and to bi-amp my centre speaker, works well. Do you like the X-4500h?
