ferchersan Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Goat - World Music - 2012 - LP This was my album of the year for 2012. Soaring guitar solos, heavy percussion, chunky organ, phat bass and female vocal chants. So far out, it's coming back. I found out this morning that they are touring December Cheers, Leigh 4
soundfan Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Listening to this on Spotify, but just purchased the vinyl from OS. Was disappointed somewhat in his last album Phantom Radio, but although these are only demos from 2002 ( just after his breakup from Screaming Trees), it's much more like the Lanegan I love. Album cover of the year so far too, for mine. Edited August 27, 2015 by soundfan 5
Jesco Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Funny how time changes things. I remember this album being released, a huge hit... and I've had zero interest in it until a few months ago Great live album, you can hear them enjoying themselves. 2
Jesco Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Currently spinning/furiously ripping...6 CDs worth 1
Monty Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information (1974 - CD) This is the 2001 CD reissue which made such a big splash it ran into over-hype. Still some good tunes here. 'Sparkle City' is my jam. Cool strutting funk.
ferchersan Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Dead Meadow - Feathers - 2005 This is my favourite Dead Meadow album, I'd love to snag a copy on LP. These guys are excellent live... So are The Drones. I'll be spinning their latest LP, I See Seaweed next. Then I'm heading over to Marrickville with @@Viognier and @@AlessandroSpina to see them live. Cheers, Leigh Edited August 27, 2015 by ferchersan 11

soundfan Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Now that Legacy Recordings have acquired the catalogue of Van Morrison ( bar a couple of albums including Tupelo Honey) , there's hope that I might be able to eventually get a vinyl copy of this great album. Hopefully vinyl reissues will be on the agenda to these albums. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/legacy-recordings-acquires-catalog-of-music-legend-van-morrison-spanning-more-than-50-years-of-music-300132701.html 4

soundfan Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Wilco:The Whole Love Although I believe their best work is behind them, they (IMO) remain a consistently great band and have no dud albums. This is superb on vinyl too. 4

I have the Gold music fidelity copy and the first song is awesome. might give it a go tonight Hi Not really, it depends on whether I am in Melbourne or on the coast as I spend most of the time at Torquay and 4-6 days per fortnight in Melbourne, and Meddle is one of about 20 LP's I have in Melbourne to play on my old Denon TT, so it gets played about one a fortnight when I am there. Would be difficult to pick one album as my favourite, but it would be in my top 10.... JJ 3
ABG Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Wilco:The Whole Love Although I believe their best work is behind them, they (IMO) remain a consistently great band and have no dud albums. This is superb on vinyl too. x2 Kicking off my weekend with Grant Lee Buffalo - Copperopolis (CD - 1996). Not their strongest album, but definitely worth a spin. Decent sound quality, though the drums sound like they need tightening. I like a nice snappy drum and the drums on this album ain't that. 4
funky Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) My weekend is starting off with The Decemberists - Picaresque (LP). Haven't played it in a while, I like the voice of the lead singer, suits the music/arrangements. Nice way to kick it off. Edited: and great story telling to boot Edited August 28, 2015 by funky 3
betocool Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Fresh download from Qobuz Great selection of '70s stuff! 1
Monty Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 John Armstrong Presents South African Funk Experience (1971-84/2010 - CD) I asked the kids what would be some good 'Saturday morning cooking pankakes music' and the 8 year old called 'Oh Yeh Soweto'. Sometimes I think I must be doing something right. This is fantastic uplift mofo party music. Worth seeking out. 2
ZEN MISTER Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 This sits comfortably in my 50 most played albums. Exquisite in every way. ZM. 5
