ABG Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Rock Art & the X-Ray Style (LP - 2012 repress). My favourite album from Joe Strummer post Clash. Full of fantastic, funky beats and poetic lyrics (just don't ask me what he was meaning by them!), this is an album that is guaranteed to uplift me regardless of my mood when I put it on. The 2012 is a good pressing too, even if the recording is a tad flat - the music more than makes up for it. This is a must have in any collection (along with all of The Clash records), but I'm ever so slightly biased. I found it very undeserving that one of the legends of the music scene was reduced to almost begging people to come and see him play outside the venues he was about to play in (as witnessed on The Future is Unwritten). Far from the only one, I know... Edited August 30, 2015 by ABG 5

Citroen Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 @@Citroen bought my copy 3 years ago no cd but a nice booklet. Looks like the CD only came with the Amazon release. "You purchased this item on September 9, 2011. Winterland (8 LP + 1CD Box Set) (Amazon.com Exclusive) Sold by: Amazon Export Sales, Inc. $54.01 Condition: New" Playing quietly now. "The bonus disc features an amateur stereo recording made of Jimi's sold out February 4, 1968 Winterland performance. This official bootleg recording showcases Jimi's love for the blues and includes versions of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor," the Muddy Waters influenced "Catfish Blues" as well a majestic rendition of "Red House". The recording also features an impromptu, extended rendition of Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy" with Buddy Miles sitting in for Mitch Mitchell. "Dear Mr. Fantasy" is presented here in two separate parts. When the recording was originally made, the first side of the tape ended abruptly and came off the spool. The tape operator then hurriedly flipped the reel over, rethreaded the tape and snapped on the record button". 1

I'm pretty sure I got my copy of this set from popmarket and it did have the CD, but in contrast to the great vinyl discs, the CD is so bad as to be unplayable, to these ears.
Monty Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey (1975 - CD) Winston Rodney is one of my favourite reggae dudes and if isn't his best album it's damn close. 2
