Capone Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 David Bowie - Another Face Its a album that focuses on his early stuff from 64-70
metal beat Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Depeche Mode - Music for Masses. UK original release, pressed at MPO France. The precurser album to their " perfect " album Violator. A wonderful album in its own right with some amazing synth sounds that are still chillingly timeless today. Because each side starts off with possibly two of their strongest songs the rest of the album seemed somewhat not quite so good. That is the problem with a hit singles dominated albums. Upon reflection and lots more listening over the years its is a superb album with other standouts being The Things you Said, Little 15, Nothing. To have and to Hold 4
Janjuggler Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Hi All Some 70's music so far today, whilst awaiting for my daughter to give birth, ah well have to prioritize, as I am missing out on the Tivoli sale: JJ 5
Freedom Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 ... but right now I am playing this CD wot I got this morning: Rodriguez - Cold Fact -- an older RCA pressing, not the remaster. Sixto is kinda popular lately but I'm kinda ambivalent. Some songs are good, some are just so-so. IMHO. --Geoff I have heard a lot of him 'lately' ! Is there any reason?
Tony ray Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Dan Sultan. Blackbird Some nice music , great drumming and guitar work. One thing that gets me is the amount of Bass in the modern recordings to say a 80s recording. It seems you have to EQ the bass depending on what era you are listening to. 1
metal beat Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have heard a lot of him 'lately' ! Is there any reason? Yes he is sampled on one of the current hits
ABG Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Big Star - #1 Record (1972 - CD). Someone was listening to Chris Bell recently which made me realise I haven't given this a blast for a while. Yum! 5
soundfan Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have heard a lot of him 'lately' ! Is there any reason? Don't know about a reason, but that album is one of my favorite 5 or 6 albums. Been listening to it since the late seventies. 2
keyse1 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have heard a lot of him 'lately' ! Is there any reason? He was very popular amongst the same people amongst others that liked Neil Young in the 70's and then disappeared An recent award winning documentary explained that he was working in a factory Never saw any money No money no fame So he now plays and tours again although fairly old now Played at the Bluesfest recently I think and finally getting both fame and money Look it up on the internet well worth reading about and you may like the music 1

mondie Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 This is my third Silverchair reissue from SRC mastered by Kevin Gray. It sounds brilliant, the best of the 3 and is dead quiet on lovely pink vinyl. If you're a fan this is a must. 1
soundfan Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Robert Forster: Songs To Play Streaming, have the vinyl on pre order. Really enjoying his new album, some cracking songs on board. There are moments when I feel I am listening to another Go Betweens album. Welcome back Mr Forster Edited September 13, 2015 by soundfan 6
soundfan Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Mark Lanegan: Houston Publishing Demos 2002 I received the vinyl this morning, and playing it now. Don't let the "demos" in the title fool you, the song craft and production is impeccable and the vinyl sounds excellent. Great gate fold cover too. Could end up being in my top 5 vinyl releases of the year. 4

I was just curious as to why 'now' he is being talked about more? I think the doco was a bit misleading about him being 'lost' for all those years, because he actually toured Australia in the late 70's (I think) and recorded a live album (which I have), so it wasn't like he went underground after his second album and was not seen again!

Scraps at Midnight - recorded in 3 weeks and released 1998 on Sub Pop. US original pressing - magnificent and quite blusey. 3
Citroen Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Radiohead - OK Computer 2008 vinyl Capitol reissue 6
metal beat Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Radiohead - OK Computer 2008 vinyl Capitol reissue man, this talk of Radiohead has got me to pull out the original UK pressing. Lean and mean sounding - superb. Gotta luv the eeny, meeny, miney, mo instead of sides 1-4 8
NeilNZ Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Currently Bill Laswell -City of Light, and it is fantastic. 3
metal beat Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 New Order - Brotherhood. original UK pressing 1986 and sonically HUGE analog masterpiece. Outside of Bizzare Love Triangle, New orders noisiest album full of Bernard distorted guitar licks, Bernards voice happily mixed into the background of the noise, Morris kicking super fast drumming , Gillians light key touch and of course Hooky's bass. . The last truly great New order album. Track 1 Paradise is one of the best Shoegaze songs before Shoegazing had been invented.' New Order were that great in the 80's. In fact, the best band of the 80's. 4
soundfan Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Low: Ones and Sixes This arrived this morning, after having had it on pre order for quite a while. I purchased the "Loser Edition" which comes with the outer embossed slipcase and 2 LP's on marbled yellow vinyl. Sounds excellent, despite my general dislike of coloured vinyl. As for the album, I've streamed it a few times prior to getting in a physical copy so am familiar with it now. And it may end up being my favourite Low album. A typical Low album that doesn't break any new ground, with just maybe a touch more pop leanings than previous efforts. Edited September 14, 2015 by soundfan 1
mondie Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 New Order - Brotherhood. original UK pressing 1986 and sonically HUGE analog masterpiece. Better than the recent reissues? Do I need an original UK press
Viognier Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Confusing, erratic, unpredictable & pretty impressive in places just like you expect him to be...Thanks broom. I picked it up last week at the Redeye 20% off sale. Only played it a couple of times as I bought a number of albums. But I certainly like it and perhaps not as erratic as I was expecting. Even the clear yellow vinyl sounds ok. 2
