metal beat Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Better than the recent reissues? Do I need an original UK press I don't have the recent reissue of Brotherhood. No need with vinyl sounding this good. Based on original Rhino reissues of Movement, PC&L and Technique the Original pressings will sound tighter, better dynamics and more extended. The reissues are good If you are happy with the reissues, keep listening to them. Plenty of Cheap UK originals to pick up if you see one thou. 1

Freedom Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Listening to the sound coming out of my stereo As opposed to the record As I normally do Truly great guitarist Live stuff I'm currently listening to a playlist of EC's songs I've taken from all of his albums! While I like him as an artist a 'lot', I can't help to have some reservations when a lot of his songs are covers, and a number of 'JJ Cale' covers! It's just something that (for me) he doesn't quite enter into that 'greatness' that I feel he should? If that makes any sense?
keyse1 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I think he is great He did enough in the 60's and 70's to earn the description I don't think any or very few Rockne rollers from the 60's survived past the 70's with their reputations intact If you assess the quality of someone's records by judging the worst ones no one would deserve the description great Most of them including Clapton made records that have some great tracks on them but a lot of not so good stuff A lot of his work are covers and tributes to people he admires and inspired his best records That record I was listening to was 1 cd studio good plus but the live one is really good with good vocals and great guitar Not sure but don't think he wrote the songs 2

Citroen Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Filippa Giordano - I think her voice is gorgeous. Opera aficionados may scoff at this pop cross over. I find it enchanting. http://youtu.be/J-Z43mkZ-gY?list=RDc2cA8Oeduwk 1
metal beat Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Robbie Robertson - how to become a Clairvoyant. 2011- US pressing Robbie has such a wonderful bluesy husky soulful voice. His guitar playing is pretty nice to, Although Clapton is helping out a bit. Edited September 15, 2015 by metal beat 1
Citroen Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Amy Winehouse - Frank Jazz infected soul music. Her first and IMHO her best. 2

Original UK pressing comes with an additional 12 inch single with a couple of remixes from M Young, aka Colourbox LOL. Interesting how PC this place is, the name of the album has been censored.
