emesbee Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Kate Rusby - 20 Just re-aquainting myself with some of Kate Rusby's recordings. I have quite a lot of her albums, but don't get around to playing them much these days (probably because my collection is getting too large!). I was in the right mood tonight though, so gave this a good listen. This is a double CD released in 2012 of new recordings (at the time) of songs from her previous albums with a number of guest musicians. The guest musicians include Jerry Douglas, Michael McGoldrick, Richard Thompson, Eddie Reader, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Paul Weller, John Doyle, Paul Brady, and the Grimethorpe Colliery Band to name a few. There is also a string quartet on some of the tracks. Sometimes I need to be in the right sort of mood to really appreciate her recordings, and tonight this one certainly hit the spot. Annan Waters. This is the song that first made me aware of Kate Rusby when I heard it on a compilation album. Underneath The Stars - with The Grimethorpe Colliery Band. 2
