I really can't delete the helper files for the other machines. Zappiti ignores the files without video codec extensions. It will also match the srt file to the appropriate video. netmask Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 So what happens if the Cloud falls over? Is there provision to create a local server with the info needed? In this respect I'm thinking of a family I know who live off grid but have an extensive solar and battery backup system, when there you would think they are in the deepest reaches of Paddington! All mod cons. However their Internet connection is not the best. When Mark visits Sydney I daresay he could bring the unit with him and do a catch up download? Any thoughts? For me in the inner west Internet connection is really fast and reliable so not an issue for me.
Guest Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 With a highly integrated smart home, when the 'net goes down Zappiti not working is the least of my concerns! 1 1

Alternately you can still access files through the explorer app. https://zappiti.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/839310--network-create-an-offline-movie-collection-for-z 1
SandS Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Received a Mini 4K HDR today to replace my Popcorn V10 Now to see if I can get it to talk to Synology Nas

If you get the opportunity, try a good quality linear power supply with the Zappiti instead of the one they supply. You should notice picture and sound quality improvements.
SandS Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Who sells these, cant get my head around why Zappiti don't have a good enough power supply. where does it store the movie data, not like the V10 jpg and fanart jpg's
Guest Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 There's nothing wrong with the power supply, but cost savings have to be found lower down the range. The high end units have a very good power supply built in (that's one of the things you pay for). Available from Selby: https://www.selby.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=zappiti

Zappiti gives an outstanding picture (which IMO is better than its competitors) with the the standard PSU . However, speaking as an enthusiast who is always looking to push the envelope, a good linear PSU can improve things even further. Not everybody will think it is worth it but if ever you want to have a tweak in the future, this is good way to go. 1
Soundfever Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 @Marc Saw that you have sold the player, I have the same player streaming from a windows SMB, had the long handshake issue. I have changed the deep color option to auto instead of 12 or 10bit, that makes the audio handshake before the video for me. Only able to confirm for 1080p files, don't have a 4k monitor. My setup Zappiti -> Marants sr7012 -> Darbee -> Epson TW9200.
SteveByTheBay Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I’ve a Zappiti ACE which I’ve wired: HDMI main out to Lumagen and HDMI audio only out to Trinnov. All codecs except DD+ work. Any ideas? The sources are Netflix and ATV backups. If I only use Zappiti’s HDMI main out, and send all audio out from Lumagen all codecs play through the Trinnov. What I’m trying to do is take advantage of video/audio separation features of Zappiti.

The problem I had, is what worked one week, didn't see to work the next. Hopefully their firmware has become more stable in recent updates perhaps. 1

The best results for me were direct to Lumagen from main HDMI out, then using Audio Out HDMI to the AV Processor (Trinnov). I think you're better off using the Audio Out feature of the Lumagen more than the Zappiti itself, in practice.
SandS Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I've had the mini 4K hdr for a while now and really like it, compared with the popcorn vten. I like the way it plays the music of the movie when looking at the covers. i enjoyed Mulan and liked the intro sound Loyal Brave and True, Christina Aguilera. found it on you tube, with my limited internet i downloaded it with 4Kdownload. Zappiti didn't like the audio track, it was in Opus. The Zappiti help told me to convert the file with Handbrake, now all good. You learn something new every day. You guys probably knew all this...
xPLAYRZx Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I'll be keeping an eye on these .... https://www.zappiti.com/our-products 2
powerav Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I have been in search of the perfect media player for 15 years and although I’m still not convinced such a device exists my newly purchase Zappiti one 4K and it’s the closest that I have come. I use it mostly for DVD and bluray concerts and it sounds and looks remarkably better than anything I have owned before including Kodi on a dedicated HTPC, I can’t get over how goood DTS ma music concerts sound, truly audiophile. I also have coax spdif out to a topping e30 for music and sounds pretty good as well, just as good in my opinion as my previous PC running Roon Rock into same dac. The downside is the lack of any music library system, hopefully that improves. I’m real keen to try the power supply upgrade options as mention here now. 1
powerav Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I just need to add that I still need to use Kodi, I have this installed on the Zappiti and I use it only for SACD multichannel DSD’s, I know it still converts to PCM but it sounds better than Kodi on a PC.
powerav Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 (edited) Im pretty impressed with the audio quality in 2 channel music mode. I have a spdif coax to a topping e30, my reference is a PC running roon rock and USB to dac and I don’t feel like the Zappiti isn’t lacking in anything at all. just a shame the library system totally sucks, even playing a full album is a pain. powerav Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 (edited) Bob Marley Legend bluray audio, how can it sound so much better playing on the Zappiti but it does. Edited October 2, 2021 by powerav

xPLAYRZx Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Pricing is listed in their web store but not available for orders to Australia. Not cheap. £719 for Neo - (approx. AUD $1399) £1149 for Reference - (approx. AUD $2199) £2399 for Signature - (approx. AUD $4499)
powerav Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I just purchased and installed an iFi iPower MK2 power supply for my Zappiti one 4K. The reason was that I read the main difference between this and the higher spec models was the power supplies. Now I do tend to get excited about an upgrade or new product and then normally come down from cloud nine and sell it but I really do hear a noticeable difference with this. I played my 2 reference or test Blurays, Billy Joel Shea Stadium and The Police Certifiable. The song Wrapped around my finger on the Police disk is incredible, the thundering but not boomy tympani drums and the ear piercing highs of the xylophone, very pleased …………….today anyway.
Verneyboy Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 I’m new to this , I have had kalidecape for several years , have always been happy with it however the inability to download and rip 4K has been disappointing to say the least I intend to get the nas drive with the ability to rip 4K 2 mini players and 2 of the larger players for the better visuals I’m interested to see if there is a supplier in this forum who could give me an overall price to narangba qld , we are setting up a showroom for sound via Kyron Audio it will be around 700k investment all up so we want the best visual systmn we can get for customers who would be interested in seeing how they could tie hi end hi fi with 4K visual I’m not a technical person , I just like the best regards Vern
xPLAYRZx Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Looks like the new Zappiti range is available to purchase in Australia ....
TP1 Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 My goodness they are not cheap. They now have the same chipset as Zidoo but at a much higher cost. Zappiti must be confident I guess , and it will be interesting to see how they perform.
