Why not. I'm for it.

Needs to be before July 7, as Mrs Mustud and I then go to the U.K. for 6 weeks.

I'm just being very, very understated.

Perhaps you could elaborate?

I'm getting myself ready for a serious tasting next week.

Sampling a liitle of the following at present , after glancing in it's direction on a number of occasions during collection day I decided to take the plunge and discriminate

against some of my usual suspects.

Smooth and rich with a peaty punch , a slightly creamy after-taste also. If you're in the market for a nice drop around the $60 range this should be on your list.

I have had enough of the Islay whiskies for the time being, and will most probably now leave them alone until I visit Islay in early August.

No, its the sherry whiskies for me for the time being. Enjoying the Macallan sherry, Glenfarclas and Glenmorangie.

Just opened a hp after a long break from fine whisky.. Nice. Vintage cellars are offering 20 % off if you buy two single malts. I bought an aberlour but now wonder if i should change it for something else?

I don't think so. Pretty much all commercial whisky is worth drinking. One can get too carried away with following the whisky bible. Its all good fun to read, but we love to categorise, don't we?

For example, I cannot get quite as excited about Ardbeg as Jim Murray does. I do love the stuff, but not necessarily more than some of the stuff he rates lower.

Recently spent an evening there getting a private tasting from the owner for a mate's 40th. Incredible range. Hadn't heard of many of the distilleries.

They also had Laphroaig and some Ardbergs as well as Jura. Im concerned the Arberlour might be a little softer than i remember.

Lucky you Zammo, it sounds like a great place for a catchup with some mates.

I'm guessing this means you didn't take notes.

Enjoyed a couple of Laphroaig Quarter Cask as a digestive after catching up with Bronal and Multiplex Man for dinner last Friday.

Next bottle purchased will probably be a Tobermory. I'm not usually a big Highland malt fan, but I seem to recall the Wombly Whisky of Mull as being something special.

My Glenmorangie arrived today and I've had my first sip.

Delicious, and that's straight out of the bottle so I expect it to improve over the next twenty minutes.

How do you serve a good single malt? ie decant and breath?

Good to hear. My Glenmorangie has not yet arrived, so I have to go on memory. My deliveries always taken long. One would think that Narre Warren were in Laos.

I have mentioned that I am particularly enjoying the sherry whiskies at present. I have my eye on the Glendronach 15 yo to try out sometime over the next month or two.

So many open bottles, so many different moods to experience...

No need to decant. Room temperature, Czech crystal or a Thomy mustard glass, and sometimes no more than 20% water.

But I hear that a vegemite glass can also be good.

I have yet to empty my first Thomy jar but I'm working on it.

I'm a teetotaler.

And I'm a jellyfish.

I posted somewhere else some time ago, however i really enjoy reading the articles and books of the late Michael Jackson.

Anyone interested in exploring can access 25 articles for free from here by registering. I think I connect with him more than with Jim Murray because of the old farts factor. One reaches an age where it is more fun toying with an idea than in attacking it headlong (except when it is on SNA, there has to be an exception).
