Kharma Audio Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 **Cable naysayers please move on** Hi All looking for recommendations on power cables connected to your sources tried & tested. I once read “to place your most dynamic & detailed power cable on your source as once the dynamics are gone from the source you can never get them back” so to speak. Trying this with my system unveiled a new world of resolution & changed my system for the better. Nothing too entry level as I have found most “tier 1” cables due to build quality & plugs don’t have the major advantages I’m looking for in my system until the mid & top spec but please do recommend a cable you have heard regardless of tier if you have been impressed with it. Im currently using an Isotek Evo3 Elite on my digital player and an Analysis Plus power oval 2 on my DAC. The two work very well together with the Elite being very open, dynamic & musical with the power oval 2 pulling the reins back a tad and calming the excitement as it is a very quite cable which adds control and bass authority into the mix. I have tried two evo 3 elites on the digital player & DAC but the sound was bright & thin. With two AP power oval 2s the sound was a tad dull Hence why I use them combined. Let me hear your favorite source PCs reviews and why you like them. I have been recommended Voodoo Air spectra / Phoenix and the siltech PCs by a fellow member to start with. 1
ppaul Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Very happy with an IsoTek sequel on my source components and optimum on Amp fed from a Sirius strip
Kharma Audio Posted November 11, 2020 Author Posted November 11, 2020 I agree, the Sequel is a good cable. It’s the set up I used to run before the Elite. I found the elite to be more open, detailed with a bigger soundstage and had better resolution when upgrading, quite a step up. I’m also using an Optimum on my Pre and power too. 1
ppaul Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 I’m now in two minds which way to go next: save and get the Sigmas or, keep the Sirius and feed the source components and get the Evo 3 Syncro uni and feed the Amp with it, nothing this side of Xmas though 1
Kharma Audio Posted November 12, 2020 Author Posted November 12, 2020 I have tried an Aquarius in my system and it definitely made everything cleaner and quieter but had so much to upgrade back then at the same time I just got my PCs instead as they made the biggest difference in my system (using Cawsey power box currently) Aquarius was twice as good. I would prefer the sigmas as the whole system would benefit and since you already have a Optimum, plugging it into a sigmas would be better anyway as the sigmas does what the syncro does but to the whole system. 1 1
ppaul Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Yeah after more research, I’m gonna save the extra and get the Sigmas 1
Bill125812 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Peter Graves is a member here and runs Audio Principe Great guy to deal with and make a couple of different power cables. Very good indeed https://audioprincipe.com.au/australian-power-cables/premium-shielded-power-cable/ 3
falcongtho1968 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Gday, there's a bloke in Mount Martha-Victoria, called Ray, who makes a quality power cable, that I use on all my components, even my subs... Great bloke to deal with... fully shielded cable for hifi av systems, braided cable made in Germany, eliminates rfi emi from entering system also prevents contamination to nearby interconnects, very flexible, 1.5mtrs in length other lengths available, cable rated 18amp current rating 450volts rating od 10.3mm tinned copper braid. fitted with Australian 1439hd wall plug, more than one available, also custom lengths. 3

The Synchro's thinned out the sound and I lost a bit of dynamics which I put a preference on .Try before you buy if possible , count me as one who is not a big fan of the Synchros especially on amps.
ppaul Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Jones99, do you mean the Syncro cable? Or the actual Syncro uni power conditioner?

Kharma Audio Posted November 14, 2020 Author Posted November 14, 2020 Another stellar recommendation from a fellow member has been the LessLoss C-Marc power cable. I have read some great reviews even one comparing the C-Marc to the siltech crown prince at 4x the price (although speaker cables) most brands & the individual models seem to have a certain signature sound & presentation across the range. anybody with Voodoo air spectra or voodoo air Phoenix, Siltech or Kharma power cables?
44maloo Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 the best all round power cable i have tried is Sablon audio. pound for pound the best i've tried for the money. I have Acoustic Revive Voodoo Black diamond right up to Nordost Odin and Audio note. It is very system dependant. I tried the Odin on my MSB Dac and didn't like it the sablon was better. Tries the Audio note on my Nordost QX4 and the Odin was way better, you get what i mean. 1

Expand Nice comment Maloo, I was reading up about the Gran Corona PC last night and had quite a few rave reviews. I’ll keep reading up about them over the weekend. also I definitely agree with you about component synergy with different PCs. My AP Power oval 2 is stellar on my Dac & Blu ray player but dull on the Digital player or AV pre processor.
Kharma Audio Posted January 14, 2021 Author Posted January 14, 2021 I have recently been trying out a Chord Signature Aray Power cable and must say I was quite impressed! Compared to the Isotek Evo3 Elite, it has a monstrous sound stage, more detail and loads more bass authority without being harsh or bright! It’s still running in but as it does the resolution and imaging focus has improved a lot as it initially started off being a bit unfocused & blurred due to the large soundstage. Makes me wonder what the Sarum T power cable is like if the signature is impressive. Not much info on either which I’m surprised about.

Expand Who carries Sablon in Australia.Do they make Oz compatible cables ?I have recently been trialing new power cables with my front end . Tried the top Analysis Pus Ultimate's with my MSB Dac and surprisingly much preferred 2 x Isotek Ascension which now run both power supplies. On my MSB transport Nordost Valhalla V2 was preferred to Ascension and AP Ultimate to the point it has stayed in my system .I will try Odin 2 soon with Dac and Transport as well as more Valhalla V2 but cannot help but feel more Nordost may not suit my tastes ,but better to try then guess, though. Audioquest Hurricane and Dragon I would like to try also but I cannot find any in Australia. Anyone have experience? Any other suggestions welcome but I must be able to audition which a lot of manufacturers seem very reluctant to do which is shame as if I like them they will stay.
Jones99 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Thanks to @44maloo for lending me his Sablon cables very generous and greatly appreciated . Some fantastic feedback on these power cables so really looking forward to trying in my system. I will be able to compare them to my current Isotek Ascension and Valhalla V2 which should be very interesting, @CremonaM happy to report findings if you think it may be helpful. 1

My amps are 20amp c19 connections so wont be able to give thoughts this time around. I can try on my woofer towers but not sure without having same cables on amps it will be relevant.
44maloo Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Looking forward to Jones99 thoughts on the Sablon power cables too. He has the best Dac on the planet in my view so happy I can help. joe.
