I noticed that the SX has voltage rating but the power cell doesn’t. Does this mean that a US bought version is suitable for 240v 50hz as well ?

The SR Powercell One I ordered through The Cable Company were assembled at the SR Factory in California with AUS plugs . The same option is available on the Powercell Two. When you get into the Powercell 8 and 12 the AUS Plug option is NOT available and the specially developed SR Schuko or US Plugs being the only option with the only choice being 110V or 230V. Complicated.....check out the detail on The Cable Company Website.

My Powercell 12 SE is rated upto 250v and works very well.  I bought mine used from US, nothing 'special order' about it.

Don't rely on website options, I am pretty sure Powercell SE can come with AU outlets that have the same treatment of blue outlets.  But I can not be sure they are certified to meet Aust Standards, which I gather is a very difficult and expensive process to obtain so may not have been done for the small AU/NZ market.

If you want AU outlets, you probably need to email/phone a dealer.

Just went through the SR Website and there are 3 types of multiplug Powercells produced (1) a Powercell 8UEF ($1995 USD) (2) a Powercell 12 UEF ($6995 USD) and (3) the Galileo SX Powercell ($27,995 USD)

Point 1: None of the 3 Powercells listed have an AUS plug option.

Point 2: Either the SR Schuko or the SR US Plug are available.

Point 3: 16A/ 230 Volts is an option on all three Powercells.

The only Powercells which offer AUS plugs are the Powercell One and Two. The best source of accurate info on all things SR is Alfred Kainz who runs Highend Electronics in California. His company offers Free Shipping on all products.

This is from the Spec on SR website ...

International(EU/AU/UK) Version: Rating is predicated upon the Schuko Outlet rating of 16amp/250v

The AU outlets appear to be available.  The rating is determined/measured using Schuko.

They used to just say 110 - 250v on the back rather 2 voltage ranges.  Maybe they now use different transformers for their conditioning electronics.

Sometimes SR prices for international  versions is sometimes not justified.  I have several of their DC powered things (Tranquility, FEQ) and the only difference is the wall wart and sometimes those are 110 - 250v with US/Asian plug!

The Active Ground Block SE I bought from the US used market needed its PSU changed to 230v though, but it was a minimal cost.

Most of my intell about this is from Andy W at SR, although these days he is not so available.

As a final thing I'd like to show some photos of my SR Powercell One (I bought 2 of them) Currently retail for $995 USD but they certainly bring something to the audio table. You'll note SR's AUS/NZ plug ....Voltage 220-240V. Its about 450mm long and quite stiff. I had to do a serious rebuild of my power plug area to fit it/them in.......Denney does not do "subtle". As my friend at the Cable Company said Denney is an utter dropkick but he is a great audio designer.

Cheers

Both of my SR Powercell One Power Conditioners are now listed for sale in the Classifieds. In coming weeks I'll be listing a 3m pair of SR Atmosphere X "Excite" Loudspeaker Cables and the 1m XLR Interconnects at the Excite Level as well. A major change of direction which confuses my wife.

Lol. Which way are you headed Mick?

I will be probably be listing Atmosphere X Euphoria 8 feet speaker cables too.  I now have Atmosphere SX Euphoria, but tempted to try bi-amping, and possibly AXD, with my Devialets.

Hi Mick, I'm also looking for power options, and honestly I'm interested in them, but may I ask why you decided to move away from them? Have you settled on something already?

I spent more money recently on a dedicated powerline to my audio area. Tidied up a lot of things that were bugging me ; I have only 2 components and I have rebuilt my SR power cords with Furutech connectors.......so I'm back to strong basics. I need the money to cover a new amp and some new speaker cables. The reviews on the Powercell Ones are very good. The Cable Company in the USA portray the Powercell One as a "supercharger for power cords"" but thats a bit over the top. I relisted the two Powercell Ones this morning.

Anyway they are a very high quality product.

Regards

Mick

It depends on a few things.

Labour for a sparky can vary depending how difficult/time consuming it is to route the dedicated cable.  And they will need to install a new RCD on one end and and outlet on the other.

Potentially that will be less than the cost of audio grade cable which can be $100/m or more ... that is if the sparky will install that (because it most probably won't be certified to meet the required Australian Standard).

Have to go back through my records but less than $500.....powerboard was within 5 meters of my audio system....that helped a lot pricewise..

Minor mistake made during the instal was using only double power points.......should have installed at least 2 single power points to accommodate "wall warts"........too thick/ wide for 2 of them to fit on a double power point. The devil is in the detail !

Get a 4 outlet one fitted, it goes into the same spot as a double, very handy for spreading out 2 regular at one end and a "lump" at the other ;)

What cabling did you use from the power board to the outlet? How many other types of people other than audiophiles would use a dedicated line? Maybe a silly question…

Thats where the electrician dug his heels in......there are restrictions as to what cable can be installed between the powerboard and the outputs. I built this house in 1975 so how old is some of the cable.....48 years old in the sub-tropical Sunshine Coast.  Fresh cable off the reel .........worth doing. The distance from the powerboard to the new Clipsals is roughly 4 to 5 meters. The install was about 2 hours.......getting rid of the old cabling took most of the time. Knowing how many outlets you want and where is important but the sparkie came up with ideas as it went along.

Add up how much you have spent on power cords.....power conditioners etc and the price of refreshing my old and tired electrical system is well....a no brainer!

It’s got to be the smartest place to start. Well done. Did it make much of a difference? Don’t you still get noise on the line from your neighbours?

Make much difference.......no..... more about getting something essential done. The only noise i get from my neighbours is their bloody leafblower!
