Absynthetic Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 So I’m looking for a new amp. I’m running B&S 600 series speakers (5.1). I also am using a pioneer DJM600 and 2 x Technics 1200’s for my records. Looking for recommendations for an amp that may suit. I have a budget but I’m also willing to put out for what I need. My music selection is pretty diverse but pretty bass heavy. Any help is appreciated. Cheers.
Flurmanager Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 (edited) Hey there Absynthetic - in terms of the required amp functions, were you after a straightforward integrated or were you intending on more of a receiver to keep everything connected for 5.1? Thinking about great bass for an integrated, Musical Fidelity comes to mind for great performance in the lower frequency range (in my experience). Ultimately having as much headroom as applicable is my suggestion - this depends on how sensitive/efficient your speakers are. I also have much experience with using the SL1200s in both DJ and audiophile applications. The 1200 in stock form tends to be very much on the darker side of sound character, not at all neutral. As you’ve mentioned that your music as more bass-heavy, I’ll recommend keeping the signal flow clean with a power conditioner - this will further tighten up the quality of the LF and imaging significantly, for much cleaner and tighter transients overall. What speaker cables were you using by chance? Edited December 31, 2020 by Flurmanager
