Hi Pops;

Yes that’s right, I don’t have a device with digital out to try that side of things yet, but will soon. I’m interested to see how much difference there is.

hi Snoopy;

With the Kii system I am using the Innuos Zenith MKiii via USB.

With the 60XD I am using the matrix audio element x streamer/dac/preamp from my headphone setup. I can’t use the the Innuos with the 60XD as I don’t have the hub with the USB input. The 60XD minus the hub have coax or analogue rca only so I can’t use the Innuos with them.

Not sure if I brought this up before, but this little guy converts ethernet to USB/SPDIF and is fully Roon certified:-

Thanks Mark;

Does this mean I could use the Ethernet/streamer out of the innuos and then coax from the waversa to a dac and it would play whatever you were playing on the innuos ??

Yes mate, either grouped together for same audio as the Innuos or of course can be an independent zone.

A Primare NP5 can do the same thing, but for the same money the Waversa is a far better product (although the Primare does add AirPlay and Chromecast to the mix).

Yes this statement is frankly ridiculous. ATC don’t make an active or passive 15 model, do you mean atc scm 150 ??

As far as I can see the Genelec Sam series tops out at the 8 inch two way. If these outperform Kii’s at around 8 or 9 k, there would be more people yelling it from the rooftops than one unknown person on SNA.

FYI.... Sam models get quite large;

This will provide ethernet to spdif, AES, AES BNC, or i2s.

$150usd. and measures better than most.

Sounds great.

The Pi2aes provides a cleaner output than the Denafrips Hermes DDC.

Been a while since this thread has seen some love :)

I moved my Buchardt A500's on recently. They served me really well. First set of speakers my partner has actually liked, and was unhappy to see go! Very family friendly. With the hub, they really do everything. They cater for all of your digital and analogue inputs (auto sensing input turn on), have chromecast built in so you can stream to them (Roon also), have a bluetooth remote which is really nice, a Buchardt app which is super easy to use and includes room correction. The room correction is very simple and makes a huge difference at my place. The bottom end from such small speakers is impressive.

I sold the A500's as an upgrade path to the signature edition A500's of which only 50 pairs were made.

The main difference with the signature edition is the 6.5" mid/woofers are replaced with 'Purifi' drivers. The advantage of these drivers is they supposedly push twice the amount of air as the normal A500's with bugger all distortion and significantly greater power handling. This all turned out to be correct.

Well, i've had them running in for a couple of weeks and all i can say is wow! They are really impressive. The bass that comes out of these things is awesome. Not only is the bass thunderous, but they go way louder before running out of steam, and the added benefit of the Purifi drivers is the midrange really pops with so much more clarity. Overall a really significant improvement/upgrade. They cost approx $7k which is up from approx $5,750 of the standard version. After hearing them however, i think the money is justified and i would go the SE version over the standard 100%.

One of the features of Buchardt speakers are the 'master tunings'. The A500 SE version comes with a 'cardioid bass tuning', a la Kii/D&D 8c. Haven't tried the cardioid tuning yet, but will be fun to try it out.

I really love the A500SE's so far, only issue is a personal one in that the limited 50 pairs only came in a 'light palisander' colour option. I now understand palisander means rosewood. The pictures looked lighter than what they are in the flesh, and unfortunately they just don't suit our room/decor. My partner is not having a bar of them and wishes we just had our standard A500's back that were a more contemporary looking white finish. Aaargh! So looks like i'll be sending them back under the 45 day return policy which is a real shame. If they release the SE version in the future with the 'normal' buchardt colour options i will definitely be a buyer.

A white vinyl wrap perhaps?

I've definitely considered it, however its a real rosewood veneer without a gloss/matt finish over the top so i don't know how well a wrap would apply to that and not worth the expense of painting.

Maybe not too expensive -

From my understanding Buchardt designed this series so that all the drivers and the amp module are easily removable to enable owners to install future upgrades at home. The amp connectors are multi-pin as well.  May only require masking up and some careful DIY spray painting in the desired tone of white satin paint ... Just a thought!

Appreciate the input mate, i just wouldn't do that to the speakers. They're a 'Signature Edition' of 50 pairs only in the light palisander (rosewood) finish. Wouldn't be right to do that to them :)

I'm sure they'll become available in standard trim colour in the near future.

Yeah that makes sense being a special limited edition!

Hopefully they will do another run of the series in standard finishes as you suggest

I priced vinyl wrap for my JBL M2’s which are much larger speakers. Circa $800.

The same guys that wrapped Marc’s JBLs.

how much is return shipping?

Buchardt offer an in home 45 day trial. If you're not happy they are returned for free. Really great company and service.
