When I first got them I thought they wouldn't be a patch on my Isophon Vescovas but they go mighty close. I'm sure these bookshelf versions of the 1009s would sound really good. 1

I can only comment on the Amp I was using - Primare I32 - 120watts per, D class They have 91 db sensitivity -which is fairly high, so most amps should be OK

Yours would be far too good to use as replacements. The 653s are great speakers but the 1003s would be next level. Magnat do make exceeding good speakers, on par with my previous Spendor A9s around $8K. The Magnat 1003s are as rare as hens teeth so whoever buys them will be getting a great speaker, my 1009s are not fussy about placement, easy to drive with high sensitivity, and fill a room easily.
